Seeing as the link to the latest version is found a few pages back, i thought i'd start a fresh thread for the final release.

TrackPAD2X
Enhanced notepad plugin for Tracktion.

Download (currently PC only)

Features:
  • Multiple pages of text stored with your track.

Each page's text can have its own font and size.

    MIDI note-based page selection.
The numeric control changes the font-size for the current page. Just drag it up and down, or double-click and enter a value.

By default, the fonts on offer will be the three default types (one serif, one sans-serif, and one monospaced) - the page default font is the system default monospaced font. If you require more fonts, just click the 'ALL' button. The first time you do this it will scan your system and build a list of all the fonts, but it will only do this once. Turn the switch off if you wish to only see the three standard types (this will not affect the currently selected font, so you'll still have whatever crazy one you chose from the whole list!).

The list shows the names of the notes that will select the page. There's also a little indicator that shows how many characters are in that page, just in case. If you zoom in vertically on the piano roll, you'll see that the note names appear on the left hand side, so it's really easy to program in page changes (see the screenshot above - notice that the note matches the note on the list :) ). You could put lyrics on the pages for a sort of karaoke guide, or you could put guitar tablature in using a monospaced font. The page changes only care about note-on messages, so it doesn't matter how long your notes are. You can, of course, copy and paste these midi clips around the track to repeat page changes easily.

You probably won't want to program these in on the piano roll, but you can use A-1 and B-1 (the two white notes before C0) to cycle forwards and backwards thru the pages. This is mainly useful for looking thru using your controller keyboard.

Have fun!

I Live you need to use C1, C#1, D1 etc. But other than that and having to paste in the text (???) it works nicely.

yeah, something about hosts too that they pick different numbersystems for their octaves. Well, i think Tracktion may actually be the odd one out, but it's for T so it's using T's numbering :hihi:

could always put in an options menu but i don't think it's worth it tbh...

What would be nice is the option to name the pages.

I have to say this is one of the neatest little plugs around! Nice idea Ron, Rock, etc etc. Thanks haydxn and ModuLR for the coding goodness! And the default color even jives with my Live colorscheme!
