Any one have much experience using Zero Latency Monitoring? Im not getting a handle on it using my Delta 66 which monitors all my Audio Imputs at the imput and feeds them straight into the main outputs
Currently, If I want to use the Zero Latency monitoring I turn off all E-to-E on the Imput\Track then on the Master Bus, (this is a pain 'cause I cannot level monitor the imputs in Tracktion) Is this right??? if I have either enabled, I experience a slight increase of volume (expected). Should E-to-E on the master bus disable the E-to-E on the track imputs or not because I don't think it currenlty does???
However, once I disable E-to-E on the master bus I cannot monitor any thing else for example VST instruments played by Midi Keyboard??? does this sound right???
Basically, I have to re-enable E-to-E to play with any midi stuff then disable it again continiously just to audition and record audio parts. Its a bit of a Pain really. Normally, I will control my sound-modules via a Midi-Input into Tracktion then an Midi-Output to the Sound Module which then puts out the sound and comes backinto the audio input???
I hope Im making sense here 'cause I've confussed myself allready.
Can someone using Zero Latency monitoring with external midi soundsources give me some tips on how they setup?

Personally, I like the sub-zero latency monitoring option. That way I can correct the mistakes before they happen!
If I'm forced to use the zero latency option, I turn off e-to-e on the track that is being recorded and use the soundcard monitor bus. No need to turn it off on the master bus.

perception: the stuff reality is made of.

End-to-End only needs to be disabled on the input for which you are using zero latency monitoring. To still play VSTi's, leave the main edit screen's End-to-End enabled.

Hi, yeah, thats what I figured too, I do notice a slight volume drop when I disable it tho.rich_h wrote:End-to-End only needs to be disabled on the input for which you are using zero latency monitoring. To still play VSTi's, leave the main edit screen's End-to-End enabled.
What is the MASTER E-to-E for then???

Yup this is correct and what I do when using an Onyx mixer for example and monitor the ZL path through the mixer.rich_h wrote:End-to-End only needs to be disabled on the input for which you are using zero latency monitoring. To still play VSTi's, leave the main edit screen's End-to-End enabled.

question: i have a 10 track recording that is saved and has been opened and is ready to do an overdub with an audio source such as a guitar. i need to be able to hear the guitar in real time as it sounds coming out of the amp, with ABSOLUTELY no delay before it gets to my ears, playing along with the recording, so that there are no weird slapback delay effects or doubling of the sound that i hear in the cans. how do i set up tracktion to get this done, using an onyx 1640? both in T1 and in T2. i haven't decided if im going to stick to the T2 upgrade for various reasons, and i'd like to know how to be able to do overdubs without having to use my US-122. i like my onyx a hell of alot better.
using the onyx 1640 and T1-T2, the delay and doubling effect has kept me from using tracktion as a tool for projects with my current clients who need overdubs on top of their live performances. nobody can stand the added little repeat of the signal, OR the slight few milliseconds of delay while tracking an overdub from a mic'd amp, or a pod DI.
any suggestions? im open to anything. im on my last leg with T (waves plugs issue) and this problem may add to the decision to scrap it. im spending alot of time trying to get things going that i can just simply get done with an intuitive mouseclick in cubase. T is not letting me do very basic overdub functionality without jumping through hoops. and no one has been able to explain it in a simple enough fashion that will allow me to believe it is a simple process in T.
prove me wrong? help a brother out? ill bake you a cake!
--edit-- im not slamming T ( i love it, that's why im trying so hard to understand it), im just saying i can't figure it out...so it's me...--edit--

Lee, the doubling is caused by your monitorting the input signal directly through the onyx mixer, and through computer (through the firewire, through tracktion, and back down the firewire) at the same time. You only want to listen to one or the other. To disable the path through tracktion, simply select an input, and make sure the "Enable End to End" button is not checked. Do this for all your inputs and tracktion won't pass the input though during recording. Now just set the channel level on the mixer to taste relative to the playback level coming back through the Onyx Firewire card. This process is applicable in all DAWs, so in Cubase, you'll have had to do something similar.
Does that help?

yes sir! i think i have a handle on the terminology now. the T terminology is confusing, compared to standard DAW terminology. i've been using a DAW for quite a while, and have never ran into terminology quite this altered. lol. i don't mean for that to be an insult, just informative. hehe.
so...
i should be able to play back my pre-recorded material and record enable a track by dragging a "tonto arrow" over to it so that it is assigned a track. i should enable toe main e2e at the output section of T. i should also untick the e2e on the track that i want to monitor in real time from the mixer, so it doesnt "double up". at that point, i will only be able to hear what is coming through the mixer as far as the guitar is concerned, but at the same time, i will be able to compare, my current playing at least, to the output of the other tracks, but i will have to make sure im not clipping the channel or anything weird like that... i think i have it.
does this sound right to you beno? and if you'renot sure, can you ask around the shop and get a more step by step run through for me? i think that would be a nice sticky as well.
if nothing other than to get me to shut up. haha!
i know i bug you man. i try not to. im just plodding along trying to get things done and im a blithering idiot in the process ocasionally... please, no comments.
haha!
