GM in Tracktion

Hi,
I'm relatively new to Tracktion (and to KVR), and want to play General MIDI sounds, as I like the chorus voice.
Can anyone tell me how to do this (if it's even possible!), avoiding latency.
My soundcard is an E-Mu 0404.
Cheers,
Scooner

Welcome!
Steinberg once had a GM-VSTi but with an awful sound! If you like a free version you should use a soundfont-player ("sfz" for example) and an appropriate soundfont. There are loads of GM-soundfonts on the web, but as a starter this one isn't bad at all:
http://www.sccmusic.250x.com/sfont/genuser/download.htm
But beware: your posting looks like you have a definitive expectation to a kind of "standard" way the instruments should sound. This isn't true! GM defines the positions of instruments (128) and the "timbre", but the implementation can be very different. Don't expect to find the exact reproduction of your favorite "chorus" sound.
BTW: Where did your "chorus" sound come from? Soundblaster? Or an external GM-Keyboard?

For starts you could install SFZ free (soundfont player) and download the Titanic GM soundfont (search for link).

Thanx everyone,
I will try that soundfont at sccmusic:
I think Tracktion comes bundled with a soundfont player (I'm not at my music copmuter, can't check yet), but have never used it.
To be honest I never figured out what it was for, and why I would use it instead of a sampler - now I know!
I think the chorus sound I had in mind was the one on the MS Wavetable GM (hence my worries with latency).
Newbies eh?.....

There is a Soundfont Player with the T2 boxed version. The Mackie SoundFont-1. Filter control, polyphony control, envelopes...all there. You now have access to like 10 million soundfont instruments from within T2.sidhu wrote:No SF player in T. Only a basic sampler.
