The documentation implies that is possible to use Slayer2 as both an instrument and an effects plugin.
Anyone got the latter working ?

Yes. Slayer2_FX.dll is the effect version; use that.

I searched and can't see a Slayer2_FX.dll file anywhere, is it on one of the CDs instead?

Its definitely part of the 'standalone' VST installer. Its possible its not included with the T2 bundled version. I'd check with Mackie or ReFX.
(Didnt realise this was in the RM forum first time round, I only noticed the thread title)

The Tracktion version doesn't include the FX version. It's only in the full version. That is about the only limitation though, as a matter of fact, I think it's the ONLY limitation. REFX said a while back that it wouldn't include the FX version with T2.

I like the FX a lot. I use it with Bela Media's Lyrical Distortion to get a cool screaming lead sound.

Though it makes it seem on the tracktion website that the plugin included is the one with FX also.koolkeys wrote:The Tracktion version doesn't include the FX version. It's only in the full version. i.e they have the same content as refx blurb.

To be clear what I mean here. The tracktion site has an entry for every plugin. The blurb for the Slayer2 plugin specificially mentions the Slayer2_FX add on - in that respect it is identical to the blurb on the refx site. The Tracktion site generally mentions where plugins have limitations - for instance all the Mackie plugins have against them that they can't be used in other VST hosts.chrisstiles wrote:Though it makes it seem on the tracktion website that the plugin included is the one with FX also.koolkeys wrote:The Tracktion version doesn't include the FX version. The utility of the Slayer2 plugin on its own is limited - as are all the other instrument plugins that can't be used outside Tracktion2. Primarily because the Tracktion2 midi editor is still pretty woeful.

The T page has been updated since I saw it last, but I did go and read it. You're right, kind of....
It is misleading by making you think the FX version is included. But it just says it's "available" as a seperate FX plugin. Again, can give the wrong idea.
But the FX version surely doesn't come with T2, although the Slayer2 itself is pretty awesome, and we get all point upgrades like a regular customer. But they do need to change the wording a bit to make it more clear.

Yup, it's pretty cool. Though as I said, i think the Slayer2 plugin is useless for the aforementioned reasons. Still - I'm reasonably happy with Tracktion and the Mackie plugins - so my advice to people would be to get T2 but not the retail packagekoolkeys wrote: But the FX version surely doesn't come with T2, although the Slayer2 itself is pretty awesome, and we get all point upgrades like a regular customer.
