AOFN Audio has released Kompis, a reference plugin for macOS and Windows that takes a different approach to mix referencing by letting you load your own third-party analyser plugins (or any plugin) directly on the reference track.
Rather than building in its own metering or spectrum analysis, Kompis acts as a host for any installed VST3 or AU plugin. Load iZotope Insight, Youlean Loudness Meter, TDR Prism, FabFilter Pro-Q ... anything you already own, know and trust. Kompis routes the reference audio through it. For plugins that support sidechain input, Kompis automatically routes your DAW track to the sidechain, so you can overlay spectrums without any manual routing. Or don't use any plugin and just have a lightweight reference tool that gets out of the way if you need it to.
The rest of the plugin is what you expect from a reference tool:
Features:
- Drag-and-drop loading of MP3 and WAV files.
- A/B toggling between multiple references.
- Integrated LUFS matching with a single click.
- Customisable filter bank for frequency-range comparisons.
- Mono and Sides switches.
- Resizable UI.
- Kompis automatically bypasses itself during render/bounce so it never ends up in an export.
- Presets which store both the reference tracks and loaded analyser configuration, so a full referencing setup can be recalled at the start of a session.
Price: 49 EUR, with a pay-what-you-like option from 9.99 EUR. VST3 and AU formats are supported on macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows 64-bit. No companion app or account is required.
