atkAudio has released atkAutomixer, an audio automixer (or sometimes called autogate), which operates by comparing input levels from multiple sources, attenuating low level inputs and preserving gain on sources with higher input levels.
The result is a transparent and effective reduction of the total noise floor and comb filtering without typical gating or spectral filtering artefacts.
A typical application would be to process multiple speech input channels in dialogue, panel discussions, debates and so on. In music production, an automixer can be used with choirs or vocal ensembles using handheld microphones or sections of close mic'd instruments to maintain steady levels.
