DAWJunkie has released a free multi-effects processor called Knobs. It is designed to create "happy accidents", and forces you to use your ears.
It has 20 unlabeled knobs that each adjust a particular effects setting. Throw Knobs on a track, click the randomize buttons and see what happens. Then fine tune as needed. You never know what you are going to get but you'll be pleasantly surprised:
