discoDSP updates OB-Xd Virtual Analog Synth to v3.20

discoDSP has updated OB-Xd to v3.20, a major update that introduces a fully independent second LFO, MPE support, a reworked MIDI Learn workflow, and a new Knob LED Visualizer system that brings real-time visual feedback to the entire interface.

Changes in OB-Xd 3.20

Second LFO (LFO2)

• Independent Second LFO: A fully independent second LFO runs in parallel with LFO1, with its own rate, three waveforms, two amount controls, five destinations, and tempo sync.
• LFO Edit Switch: The single LFO panel switches between LFO1 and LFO2 via a dedicated edit switch.
• Per-LFO Sync: A separate sync button toggles tempo-sync per LFO, or for both at once when shift-clicked.
• Backwards Compatibility: Old presets load with LFO2 silent.

MPE Support

• Full MPE Compatibility: Configurable per-axis routing for pitch bend, aftertouch (pressure), and timbre (CC74).
• Per-Axis Controls: Each axis has its own depth control, polarity, and destination.
• Y-Axis Rest Toggle: Timbre returns to neutral on note-off.
• Persistent Settings: MPE configuration caches in MIDI.xml so new plugin instances inherit your last-used setup.

Reworked MIDI Learn

• State-Machine Workflow: Live LCD feedback.
• Visual Feedback: The LEARN button blinks in time with the prompt.
• Reliable Touch Detection: Now driven by a mouse listener so preset loads and host automation can no longer falsely trigger learn.
• LFO2 Learnable: LFO2 controls are fully MIDI-learnable, including dual-view retargeting.

MIDI Board Management

• Full Board Operations: Save As, Rename, Delete, Import, and Export your custom MIDI CC mapping boards directly from the MIDI menu.
• Auto-Grouped by Manufacturer: Boards are organized with a separator after Custom entries.
• Unified Mapping Engine: Now driven entirely from MIDI.xml.
• New and Revised Boards: Includes new and updated MIDI boards out of the box.

Knob LED Visualizer System

• Volume VU Meter: LED ring (-90 dB to 0 dB output monitoring).
• Filter Cutoff Tracking: Live envelope and LFO modulation tracking on the dot.
• ADSR Animation: Amp ADSR and Filter ADSR strips animate during note playback.
• LFO Modulation Preview: LFO1/2 modulation preview on Osc1/2 pitch and Pulse Width knobs (green) when holding the LFO amount knob.
• Velocity-to-Amp Preview: Source knob and Amp ADSR strips glow green.
• Filter Envelope Source Preview: Pitch / PW / Velocity-to-Filter source knob and Filter Envelope Amount knob glow green.
• Filter Envelope Amount Preview: Source knob and Filter ADSR strips glow green.
• Pan Activity: Pan knob shows per-voice activity as a green bipolar strip.
• Bipolar LED Mode: For inherently bipolar parameters.
• LFO Routing Feedback: Routing buttons flash green on toggle, and waveform buttons pulse in time with the LFO.

Persistent Voicing

• Preserve Voice Settings: New option in the Programs menu that preserves voice count, unison, and multiply-voice settings across preset and program changes.
• Session Persistence: Settings are saved in settings.xml so your performance setup survives sessions.

Preset Bar Workflow Improvements

• Anchored Disk Browser: Bank LCD click opens an anchored Disk Browser popup.
• Native Dialogs: New Preset / Rename / Save dialogs (with Shift-click bypass).
• Bank Management: Rename Bank action and Shift+click bank shortcuts.
• Bank Search: Search field added to the bank popup.
• Navigation Shortcuts: Shift / right-click on prev/next buttons jumps by bank or folder.
• Slot Cycling: Shift / right-click on the bank LCD cycles slot 1-16 across A-H.

Standalone MIDI Out via Virtual CoreMIDI Port

• Virtual CoreMIDI Port: Standalone build exposes a virtual CoreMIDI port for MIDI Out, replacing the prior virtual port input.
• Always Visible: The MIDI Out selector is now forced visible in Standalone for routing to external gear or other apps.
