Positive Pressure Audio has released SmarterHUMANIZE 2.0, an advanced MIDI humanization script for Logic Pro's Scripter plugin for $7.99.
SmarterHUMANIZE 2.0 is a humanizer script that gives the user deep control of what, where, and when to humanize MIDI notes. Building on the original SmarterHUMANIZE released in 2020, version 2.0 adds refined timing and velocity controls, new performance modes, negative delay, and support for multiple time signatures.
Without SmarterHUMANIZE, Logic's built-in humanize function applies the same random variation to all notes. This can make downbeats or accented notes sound misplaced, since real musicians typically play strong beats more consistently while allowing greater variation on subdivisions. SmarterHUMANIZE 2.0 addresses this by applying beat-aware timing and velocity adjustments, so that downbeats stay in time while smaller subdivisions receive more flexibility — resulting in MIDI that feels more like a real performance.
New features in version 2.0 include:
- Multiple Time Signatures: Now supports 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 3/8, and 6/8.
- Negative Delay: Move notes earlier in time as well as later.
- Mono Synth Mode: Maintains phrasing on mono synths with short envelopes.
- Global Processing & Wet/Dry Mix: Automate the overall strength of humanization or blend between processed and unprocessed MIDI.
