Acoustic 808s

ACOUSTIC 808s is a free pack of ten drum kits made from acoustic drum samples processed to sound like the drum sounds of the Roland 808 drum machine.

The kits sit in the Goldilocks zone between "why not just use an 808?" and "this doesn't sound like an 808." They offer an alternative to a standard 808 drum kit while still retaining the core characteristics of 808 drum machine samples for production.

Four different acoustic drum kits were sampled using various mic positions on the kick, snare, toms, hi-hat, and cymbals, along with several percussion instruments such as congas and cowbells. The samples were then cut and processed (EQ, volume envelope shaping, compression, etc.) and assembled into ten 16-sample 808-like kits, each with its own character and style.

• Formats include Maschine, Ableton Live, MPC, FL Studio, Geist, Battery, Kontakt, EXS24, NN-XT, and single WAV samples.
