Blindfold EQ is a freeware EQ plugin inspired by a quote by Matt Wallace from the book Recording Unhinged by Sylvia Massy.

It has 4 bands (LowShelf, LowMid, HighMid, HighShelf), but each knob is blind. There are no indicators or numbers to show frequency values, gain values or Q values.

You'd have to use your ears.

Blindfold EQ

This plugin is great for two reasons. First is very obvious - an eq with essential set of controls. Shelf filters have pre-set wide Q, so it will be difficult to fault this effect with a wrong setting. Q parameter for mid bands are very flexible. They are capable of removing specific range of frequencies (fully clockwise) or performing gentle and wide sweetening tasks. Bypass button for each band is always super handy for checking differences. Second reason is the Soft Clip functionality. It controls peaks in a very musical way and doesn't allow signal to be hard clipped. Unless of course someone drives source material way too hot. Analog button adds gentle high frequency roll-off. It starts at around 12 kHz and gets a bit steeper at 15 kHz. Thank you for this gift.
