The Minimoog Model D is, without exaggeration, the most iconic and influential synthesizer of all time. First released in 1970, it set the standard for what a portable synthesizer could be, with its logical layout, powerful sound, and expressive controls. The 2022 reissue is a meticulous, handcrafted recreation of that legendary instrument, built to the exact specifications of the original. Housed in a stunning Appalachian cherry wood chassis, this Model D isn't just a synthesizer; it's a masterpiece of electronic instrument design, giving a new generation of musicians access to the sound that shaped decades of music across countless genres.

At the heart of the Model D's unmistakable sound are its three powerful analog oscillators and the legendary, patented Moog Ladder Filter. This combination produces incredibly rich, warm, and powerful tones, from deep, floor-shaking basses to soaring, searing leads. The layout is a lesson in intuitive design, with dedicated knobs for every function, making it easy to learn and a joy to play. While faithful to the original, this modern reissue includes subtle, user-requested updates like a dedicated analog LFO with selectable waveshapes, MIDI I/O, and improvements to the keyboard and pitch/mod wheels, making it more expressive and versatile than ever before, all while preserving the exact sound engine and audio path of the vintage classic.

Moog Music designed this limited-edition production run with intentional details that commemorate Bob Moog's earliest synthesizer models. The instrument features a custom badge that uses a metal photo-anodization process, which harkens back to the modular panel graphics found on the System 55, System 35, and Model 10 synthesizers, as well as select early R.A. Moog Co. Minimoogs.

The instrument features a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case, along with 100% analog circuitry and all the modern functional enhancements from the instrument's latest reissue.

Each Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D synthesizer is assembled by hand in our North Carolina production facility, and only 500 in total will be built by our small team.

With each Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D sold, Moog Music will donate $500 to the Bob Moog Foundation to support their ongoing educational work in music, science, history, and innovation.
