This is a very inspiring VST. The overall sound quality is incredible and I can get a lot of variations from one instrument. Some of the notes seem to have a bit of a rattle or dissonance at certain velocities, and there is rare occasion where a note will stick out like a sore thumb among the rest especially in a riff or arpeggio.

I love the ambience you can create with Cloudrum, and the internal effects are brilliant. If there was a version (paid or free really) that had more drum types featured I would definitely get it.

I have only used Cloudrum in Logic Pro but it seems perfectly stable and sounds rather good. I actually have a tuned tongue drum but for background parts Cloudrum is very convenient and I've already used it on some of the new Cydonia Collective tracks we're working on. Add a bit of reverb and you're in hippy heaven! It responds to velocity in a realistic way and has various random/round robin options to keep repeated notes sounding natural. A lot to like.

This thing sounds awesome, but be careful using it in a track with the GUI open. Maybe it's just my setup that's shitty, but it's crashed REAPER 3-4 times on me now, with the GUI open, but goes fine when it's minimized.

New update fixes the crashing, and you're left with just the awesome sound. Fantastic.

Is this VST sample based, if so what instrument is used?

This is a good sounding tongue drum. It's fun to make music with.
