A Modular Plugin Host That Lives Inside Your DAW
Colosseum VSTi is a full-featured modular plugin host that runs as a VST3, AU, or CLAP instrument inside your existing DAW. Load it on a track, open the window, and you're looking at a clean, visual node graph where you can wire up entire plugin chains, layer instruments, route effects, record, sample, and perform - all from within a single plugin instance. No second application, no complex inter-app routing. Your DAW handles the audio engine. Colosseum handles everything inside.
The Graph -- Your Signal Flow, Your Way
At the heart of Colosseum VSTi is a fully interactive node-based routing canvas. Every hosted plugin, every utility tool, every I/O point lives as a draggable node on an open canvas. Connections are drawn visually between audio and MIDI pins. What you see is exactly what you hear. Right-click to load a VST3 or VST2 plugin from a file browser, drag it onto the canvas, wire it up, and it's running. No plugin scanning, no waiting. You pick the file, it loads instantly.
Multi-Output Routing to Your DAW
Colosseum VSTi starts with a single stereo output bus. Need more? Click the + button on the Audio Output node and add up to 8 stereo buses - 16 channels total -- routable independently in your DAW's mixer. Each bus appears in your DAW's routing matrix as a separate output. Route your drums to one bus, your synths to another, your effects returns to a third. Your DAW sees them all.
Splits and Sidechain
Fan-out routing is natively supported: split one output to feed multiple plugins simultaneously. Sidechain-capable plugins are automatically detected and their sidechain inputs are exposed as dedicated pins on the graph. Just drag a cable to the sidechain input and it activates. No menu diving, no bus configuration dialogs.
Instrument Switching / Combining by a Single Pad Button Press.
Each VSTi opened inside Colosseum automatically gets a selector button attached to a MIDI key. This method allows users to link their hardware keyboard's pads and switch between instruments during a live show instantly. The low-value key numbers (CC 20-51) ensure zero clashes between playing notes and controlling. Layer multiple instruments simultaneously with Multi-Mode, or toggle between them one at a time.
Containers -- Entire Signal Chains in One Node
Containers replace traditional workspaces with something far more flexible. A Container is a single node on your graph that holds its own complete inner graph - plugins, effects, routing, everything. Double-click to dive in and build your chain. Click the back button to return to the parent view. Each container remembers its own zoom level, saves its own presets as .container files, and appears in the Mixer as a controllable instrument with its own gain fader. Containers can be saved, shared, and imported into other projects. Build your live performance rig as a collection of self-contained blocks.
Modular Recording
Record only what you need, the way you want. Drop as many recorder nodes into the session as you want. Each one captures audio at its exact position in the signal chain - record the raw instrument output on one, the post-effects signal on another. Switch between them to capture different simultaneous stems. Sync multiple recorders together so they start and stop as one.
Sampling - Manual and Automated
Colosseum VSTi includes two dedicated sampling nodes that turn your plugin chain into a sample-harvesting machine.
The Manual Sampler arms itself and waits for a MIDI note-on. Play a note, and it records the audio flowing through the chain until silence is detected - then auto-names and saves the file by note, octave, and velocity. Perfect for capturing one-shots from any plugin in your graph.
The Auto Sampler takes it further. Define a list of notes, velocities, and durations using a simple text syntax, hit start, and Colosseum plays through every combination automatically - firing MIDI notes, capturing the resulting audio, and saving each sample to disk. Walk away and come back to a complete multi-sampled instrument folder. No third-party sampling tools needed.
MIDI File Player
Drop a MIDI Player node onto the graph and load any standard MIDI file - Type 0 or Type 1. Full transport controls: play, pause, stop, loop, and seek with position scrubbing. All 16 MIDI channels output simultaneously. Tempo follows the embedded MIDI tempo map or locks to your host's BPM. Controller state snapshots ensure clean seeking without stuck notes - jump to any point in the file and every CC, pitch bend, and program change snaps to the correct state instantly.
CC Step Sequencer
A 16-slot CC step sequencer that lives on the graph like any other node. Each slot targets a specific CC number and MIDI channel with adjustable step counts (2 to 128 steps), rate divisions from whole notes down to 1/128, triplet and dotted modes, and five playback orders including ping-pong, random, and drunk walk. Swing, smoothing, and speed controls per slot. Syncs to host BPM and time signature. Wire it into any plugin's MIDI input and automate filter sweeps, modulation, expression - anything that responds to CC, controlled from a visual step grid you can draw on in real time.
Transient Splitter
A zero-latency transient detection node that splits incoming stereo audio into two separate stereo pairs: transients (attacks) and sustain (tonal body). Four outputs - transient L/R and sustain L/R -- each routable independently on the graph. Feed the attack into a compressor and the sustain into a reverb. Process drum transients and room tone separately. Shape the balance between punch and body without any phase artifacts.
VST2 Support
Need that one classic plugin that never got a VST3 update? Colosseum VSTi lets you load VST2 plugins directly from a file browser - point it at any .dll (Windows) or .vst bundle (macOS) and it drops straight onto the graph as a fully functional node. Same metering, same bypass, same MIDI channel filtering as every other plugin.
Every Plugin Gets Superpowers
Each plugin loaded into Colosseum VSTi is wrapped in a smart processing layer that adds capabilities the plugin doesn't have on its own: Per-plugin MIDI channel filtering - Route specific MIDI channels to specific plugins. Run a bass synth on channel 1, a pad on channel 2, and a lead on channel 3 - all from the same MIDI input.Per-plugin transport override - Set a custom tempo and time signature for any individual plugin or container, independent of the host DAW's transport. Per-plugin bypass and freeze - Bypass a plugin to silence it while keeping it loaded, or freeze it to completely suspend its processing and free up CPU. Pass-through mode - Let audio flow through a plugin's node without processing, useful for A/B testing. Crash isolation - If a plugin crashes, Colosseum catches it and keeps the rest of your session running. Self-Load Protection. Colosseum VSTi cannot load itself as a hosted plugin. If you try, a warning dialog appears and the operation is blocked. This prevents infinite recursion and guarantees stability.

Mixer View
Switch to the Mixer tab for a traditional channel-strip layout. The top row shows one fader per output bus - add more buses from the Rack and they appear here automatically. The bottom row shows one fader per instrument and per container in your graph. Mixer gain stacks independently on top of each node's volume knob, giving you both coarse gain staging and fine mix control.

Preset System
Colosseum VSTi uses the .cvst preset format - completely independent from the standalone Colosseum's .subt files. Your entire routing - every plugin, every connection, every node position, bypass state, MIDI channel assignment, container state, and output bus configuration -- saves into a single patch file and loads back exactly as you left it. Your DAW also saves and restores the full state through its own project files automatically.
Plugin-Specific Performance Monitoring
The header bar shows real-time CPU and RAM meters that measure Colosseum's own processing load - not the entire system. CPU percentage is calculated from actual processBlock timing against audio buffer duration. RAM shows the delta from startup baseline, giving you a clear picture of how much memory your hosted plugins are consuming.

They finally fixed the scan issues. Now I cannot even buy it. Only offers to buy a bundle at 22.00.

I was hoping to use this to host drum machine/sampler plugins with many outs, but I can't seem to find a way to add outputs to any VST objects - it provides a stereo output, and a MIDI out, but that's it.
Until VST objects can have more than two outputs inside Colosseum VSTi, i'll pass.
