Defining Digital

The instruments in this collection showcase the ongoing legacy of Roland's significant contributions to digital synthesis. Representing legends from the late '80s and early '90s and two modern powerhouses, these recreations sound and behave exactly like the original hardware and come loaded with extended functionality to meet the needs of today's workflows.

The Four

D-50

The D-50 shook the music world with its 1987 release, completely changing the synth landscape of the era. Powered by Roland's groundbreaking LA (Linear Arithmetic) synthesis engine, the instrument's potent mixture of samples, virtual analog tones, and onboard effects allowed programmers to produce stunning sounds never heard before. The D-50 Software Synthesizer is a perfect sonic recreation of the original in every way, allowing you to bring this giant in music history to your everyday music production environment.

JD-800

In 1991, Roland introduced the JD-800—a forward-thinking digital synthesizer sporting a huge range of hands-on controls and a gleaming, complex sound. The instrument would soon find its way onto classic albums and numerous film and television scores, and it remains highly sought after to this day. Driven by an advanced modeling engine and the original waveform data, you now have the unique sonic experience of this vintage digital masterpiece in a modern software instrument.

SYSTEM-8

Drawing on our deep research and development history, the SYSTEM-8 offers a wide range of digital and analog-style oscillators, from classic Roland Saw, Square, and Triangle to SuperSaw, FM, Logic Operation, Vowel, and more. Filter options include the famous JUPITER and JUNO filters and more recent designs like the unique Side Band Filter. The SYSTEM-8 is unparalleled in its versatility, going from glass to growl, or pluck to punch.

SYSTEM-1

A true desert island synth, the four-voice SYSTEM-1 fuses classic and modern tones. Spend a little time with its free-flowing interface and quickly generate inspiring sounds that sit perfectly in your mixes. Approachable and deceptively simple, you'll marvel at its ability to churn out thumping basses, glistening arps, warm pads, plucked synths, lo-fi effects, and more.

For SYSTEM-1 and SYSTEM-8 hardware owners, the software versions provide advanced editor/librarian functions and total DAW integration.

Excellent bundle !! I was waiting for the JD-800 to have a sale and when I saw it bundled with the other 3 synths and additionally with a cheaper price, I didn't hesitate to buy it. I've only played some presets of the 4 synths, but I'm impressed with the quality of all of them. I feel they have a lot of potential to create all kinds of sounds, each one in their own way and with excellent results.

As the owner of the hardware version of 'System 1', the software version is a logical continuation. Especially since the controls are 100% compatible and correctly assigned. This gives me as many 'System 1' units as my DAW can support. But in addition, the pack included System 8, which I unfortunately don't have. These replicas are 100% faithful to the originals.
As for the D50, having the D05 also gives me the opportunity to take my D05 everywhere. I wasn't particularly interested in the JD880, but it's still an interesting machine.
All in all, this pack offers Roland's interesting and realistic digital machines, and since I already have the XV5080, my pack is now complete. In short, these are very successful replicas.
Unfortunately, there are some minor bugs in the patch saves for the System 8. For the System 1, everything seems to work perfectly.
