DLAY

Design any delay. Fast.

DLAY is a multi-tap stereo delay built around a direct-manipulation bar editor. Place up to 64 taps on a single timeline and shape every parameter by dragging — gain, pan, pitch, formant, filter or saturation, all on the same canvas. No tap pages, no menu diving; just the echo, the way you want it.

Most delays make you choose between real design control that takes twenty minutes to dial in, and quick presets that can't do much beyond a clean slap. DLAY is built so you don't have to pick: place 64 taps and shape every parameter by hand, or load one of 168 factory presets, set the mix and move on. The bar editor scales with how deep you want to go.

Every tap is a bar on a single timeline — what changes is the lens. Switch view modes (LEVEL, PAN, PITCH, FORMANT, FILTER, SAT) to edit a different parameter on the same canvas. The taps don't move, your perspective on them does, so complex multi-tap delays stop feeling like spreadsheets. Six Ripple knobs then propagate a value across every active tap, turning a single tap into a full cascade in one motion — sweep a filter across all 64 taps, drop the gain into the distance, or expand and compress the spacing with the Time Ripple.

Features

  • Bar editor — up to 64 taps on one timeline; drag to reposition, drag vertically to shape. View modes for LEVEL / PAN / PITCH / FORMANT / FILTER / SAT, plus rubber-band selection, group drag, copy/paste, undo/redo and freehand pencil mode.
  • Ripple knobs — six knobs (Gain, Pan, Filter, Formant, Drive, Time) that propagate values across every active tap to build decay curves, filter sweeps, cascading formants, stereo spreads and rhythmic expansions in one motion.
  • Seven character modes — DIGITAL, TAPE, BBD, LOFI, SPACE, VINYL and RADIO, each swapping the entire signal chain inside the feedback loop so repeats degrade and colour differently as they cycle.
  • Phase-vocoder pitch & formant — per-tap pitch shift (±24 semitones) and formant shift (±12 semitones) in real time, powered by Signalsmith Stretch. Reversed taps use a 4-grain Hann-windowed granular kernel.
  • Interactive filter display — two draggable handles on a frequency-response curve (cutoff horizontal, resonance vertical) over a live FFT spectrum of the wet output.
  • Rhythm patterns — 12 built-in patterns: OFF, BOUNCE, GOLDEN, PRIMES, LOG, SWING 58, SHUFFLE, TRESILLO, CLAVE, CINQUILLO, 3:4 POLY and 5:4 POLY.
  • Tempo sync & free time — note divisions from 1/64 to 1/2 with EVEN, DOT or TRIP modifiers, or free milliseconds (10 ms–5 s global, up to ~2 minutes per tap).
  • Stereo link / unlink — run linked, or drive left and right with fully independent taps, tap counts and rates, with one-click L>R / R>L copy.
  • Movement — Humanize, Shuffle, Drift, Wobble and Duck, all on global knobs.
  • Saturation — six types (WARM, TAPE, CRUNCH, CLIP, RECTIFY, LOFI), global or per-tap, with Drive Ripple across the cascade.
  • Feedback & smear — tap-count-normalised feedback plus a Schroeder allpass diffuser on the feedback path for ambient smear.
  • 168 factory presets — across 14 categories: Classics, Bread & Butter, Vocals, Vox FX, Modulation, Spaces, Guitar, Drums & Percussion, Synths/Leads, Rhythmic, Ambient & Wash, Sound Design, Howlers and Utility.
  • A/B comparison & mix lock — two banks for instant A/B, plus a mix-lock toggle that preserves dry/wet balance when switching presets.
  • UI scale — native 810 × 540 px editor, scalable to 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 / 200%, saved per machine.
