Toontrack has officially expanded its legendary EZX line with the release of the Dry EZX, a specialized sound library designed for producers who demand total control and absolute sonic intimacy. Recorded in a small, low-ceilinged room specifically treated with thick drapes to eliminate natural reverberation, this expansion focuses on the raw, focused, and punchy character of "dead" drums. By stripping away the room ambience that often defines modern drum samples, Toontrack provides a foundational sound that "breathes" right at the front of the mix, making it an essential tool for genres ranging from indie-pop and singer-songwriter to gritty hip-hop and modern soul.

The Dry EZX is the 72nd title in Toontrack's expansive catalog and represents a masterclass in controlled recording environments. Engineered by Daniel Berglund (known for his work with Phoenix and Deportees) and performed by premier drummers Thomas Hedlund and Mikael Häggström, the library offers four distinct drum kits. These kits cover a spectrum of tones from earthy and warm to snappy and bright. A unique highlight of this expansion is the inclusion of unison-sampled instruments; for specific kits, two drummers were recorded playing the same hits simultaneously. This technique produces natural flams and organic imperfections that add a thick, layered texture to the grooves, providing a "larger-than-life" feel without relying on artificial reverb.
