"Wrongtools Jaguar is a great sounding electric guitar and effects library. The samples are of the highest quality. On top of that, there are a lot of parameters to create sound-design elements. It's easy to use and play, but it also offers a lot of control if you want to dive deeper. Just be aware that the focus of the library is underscore. It's not comprehensive in terms of playing styles. Instead, it adds inspiring sound design tools to a set of great-sounding sustain samples. Truly fun to play and explore. Recommended. "

By documenting a vintage 1963 Fender Jaguar, Wrongtools has provided composers with an instrument that prioritizes sustain, full-bodied warmth, and textural honesty over aggressive processing.
The foundation of the JAGUAR library is a 1963 vintage model, known for its unique scale length and "offset" body which contributes to a distinct harmonic resonance. To capture the "warmth" of the guitarstrings, the signal was routed through a triple-amplifier array, representing the three pillars of classic clean guitar tones:
These sources were recorded in high-end acoustic environments using multiple high-end microphones, then mixed down into three phase-coherent user channels: Spot, 2 meters (close ambience), and 5 meters (room perspective).
A bonus component of the JAGUAR sound-library is the included custom Impulse Response (IR) package. These were not sampled from digital units but created from vintage physical spring reverb tanks and amplifier units. The objective was to develop IRs with a wide, organic stereo field specifically optimized for sample-instrument integration, avoiding the "static" feel often associated with generic convolution reverbs.
While the basis of the library is traditional picking, the integrated XY Pad allows for drastic timbral shifts. This facilitates a transition from "transparent sound drops" into "smeared-out walls of sound." For the modern composer, this allows a single instrument to function as both a melodic lead and a complex ambient texture, moving seamlessly between organic guitar tones and evolving soundscapes.
| Headline: Parameter | Headline: Cinematic Utility |
|---|---|
| Spot / 2m / 5m Mix | Allows for precise placement in a 3D mix, from dry "in-the-ear" to distant room textures. |
| Warm Full Sustains | Provides the stable harmonic foundation required for minimalist underscore. |
| Spring Reverb IRs | Adds a lively, mechanical depth that enhances the vintage aesthetic of the 1963 model. |
| XY Pad Morphing | Facilitates real-time sound design, turning a single pluck into a long, atmospheric drone. |
The JAGUAR is designed for composers who value a sound that can "roll" under a scene without becoming intrusive. Its calm and reassuring tone makes it an ideal fit for psychological dramas, character studies, and high-end advertising where the guitar needs to feel expensive, vintage, and human. It functions as a primary tool for underscoring, sound design, and general string picking, providing a level of detail that many consider the benchmark for sampled electric guitar.
