Emberex

Emberex is a free DJ-style resonant filter plugin for macOS. A single bipolar knob sweeps from low-pass to high-pass for performance sweeps, builds, and drops, backed by resonance, drive, an LFO, and an envelope follower.

Filter engine:

• Bipolar knob — drag left for low-pass, right for high-pass, center is bypass.
• LP/HP and Bandpass modes, with formant vowel morphing in bandpass.
• 12, 24, and 48 dB/oct slopes (cascaded state-variable filters).
• Resonance with automatic gain compensation, plus Kinetic Resonance that scales with how fast you move the knob.
• Frequency lock — hold the cutoff when the knob returns to center, with a smooth return-to-flow.
• Sub-Anchor — a 150 Hz crossover that preserves sub-bass through sweeps.

Drive and movement:

• Pre-filter tanh Drive with 4× oversampling.
• Ignition mode — bypass the filter for standalone saturation.
• LFO — Sine, Triangle, Square, and Saw shapes, free-running (0.01–20 Hz) or synced to host tempo.
• Envelope follower — input-reactive filter movement with independent attack and release.

Performance and MIDI:

• Key tracking (filter cutoff follows note pitch) and velocity linking to depth, drive, or resonance.
• Loop-sync that phase-locks the LFO to the host transport.

• Dry/wet mix for parallel filtering and output level (−24 to +6 dB).
• Thermal waveform and heat-map response displays, plus input/output metering.
• 11 factory presets, A/B comparison, randomize, and save/load user presets.
• Soft-clip, hard-limit, and DC-blocker output safety.

Formats: AU, VST3, and Standalone — Universal Binary (Apple Silicon + Intel), code-signed and notarized by Apple, so it installs cleanly on macOS. Free to download.
