This is definately the best and most used plugin in my production lately. It has everything I need from a sequencer: it is greatly randomizable, can fix to scale, resizable and very CPU and RAM-gentle.

Being a fan of sound tweaking I need someone or something who can take responsibility for generating different properly scaled notes while I am searching for the sound. Once I am done with that I can readjust the generated rhythm. So this thing became my assistant I've needed so much.

Besides that, about HY in general, if I have any issue and email them about it, and always get a fast response.

Really great sequencer to use. Would like to have access to longer sequences.. double to quad maybe.

The scaling used is amazing, very easy to see and use. :P.

I've hesitated to write a review of this, because I just can't decide if my unbounded enthusiasm for it is is just too wrapped up in my own way of making music. But here goes. . .

It's a step sequencer. It is heavily inspired by old-school step sequencers of the sort you'd use with a modular rig (in particular, the Doepfer MAQ16/3, but the basic design is found everywhere on old hardware). As with those old units, you turn knobs to set pitch and then it will repeat a sequence for you.

But what this really is, is that old-school workflow re-imagined with lots of modern amenities. So there's actually three sequencers on this unit. And LFOs. And built in scales. And randomization functions. And ways to set gate ratios, and swing, and probabilities, and velocities, and. .. you get the picture. It's not the kind of full-blown music creation environment that you get with Numerology, but as a mono-note step sequencer it might actually be more feature-rich. It's something like Sugar Bytes Thesys, perhaps, but it's easier to get way out into bonkers territory with it, and I think the UI is actually a lot nicer. And certainly, it's cheaper than either of those two. It is not an arpeggiator. It knows nothing of chords. It would be painful to program drums with it. But honestly, if you want to control a synthesizer in the "classical" manner, this is -- I think -- the best piece of software out there. Very niche, but absolutely dead on.

The developer has a real thing for step sequencers, and has coded several. It's very well put together, and rock solid.

Needs ratcheting and it will be an awesome Berlin style sequencer also.

Hi.

Multiple note repeats on the same step, in other words step division. That feature would make this step sequencer almost perfect for 95% of what people need in a sequencer.

I made a sequencer which is emulation of Roland M185 which has step division.

I will port this one to VST format.

AU version is still under development.

AU2 doesn't output MIDI event like as vst.
So I need to build HY-SEQ16x3 as AU3.
I hope I can release AU version soon.

Thank you :)

Would you consider Logic MFX (simillar to Thesys or Numerology) version as well?

Actually I don't know about Logic plugin format well.

I guess AU3 == MFX.
Or AU3 works as MFX on Logic.

WOW! I'm the (lone) reviewer of this plug, and the newest version (30 March 2018) is even better. The UI is even more gorgeous, and it is now an absolute modulation monster. Prepare to be lost in it for days -- in a good way. :)

How do you make it play all 16 steps ?!?! it only plays 4.

On the left hand side of each row there are drop down lists for "start" and "size" (each row can have its own settings).

I found the problem. The looping time period in my DAW was too brief. I have all 16 now. The period of time and/or number of note values I was looping in my DAW was to few / too short. I knew I was missing something ultra basic.

Hi, does this one export MIDI clips so I could view it on my DAW track?
