Three Bands. One Feedback Core.
A precision multiband compressor designed for engineers, producers and mastering professionals who expect complete control over every part of the spectrum without sacrificing musicality.
Mext takes the natural response of Nuke MK1's analog feedback compressor and gives it to you three times over, one fully independent compressor for each frequency band.
Every gain reduction curve, crossover point and control has been engineered to feel musical, predictable and reliable in real world production.
Whether you're carving out space in a busy mix, taming problematic frequencies or mastering a complete record, Mext delivers clean, targeted dynamics with optional analog saturation whenever you need it.
Why Mext?
Most multiband compressors force you to choose between surgical precision and musical cohesion.
Mext gives you both, and takes the concept further than Nuke Multiband.
Where Nuke Multiband offers a single analog style crossover for smooth, musical band blending, Mext adds a Linear Phase crossover mode for surgical, phase coherent separation, plus a full X/Y sidechain frame that lets you decide exactly what triggers each band's compressor rather than letting the compressor react to the full signal. It's the same trusted feedback compression core, built for engineers who need more precision over detection and phase behaviour without losing the musicality Nuke Multiband is known for.
Its three independent feedback compressors react naturally to incoming material, delivering smooth gain reduction while preserving punch, depth and transient detail.
Instead of harsh digital splits, the spectrum is divided by a switchable crossover. Choose between an Analog style crossover with soft overlapping slopes for seamless, musical band blending, or a Linear Phase crossover for surgical, phase coherent separation when transparency matters most.
A shared saturation stage can then add controlled harmonic richness after recombination, giving the complete signal subtle analog character without compromising clarity.
Every stage, from crossover to sidechain detection, compression, saturation and limiting, has been calibrated to behave as one complete dynamics ecosystem rather than three separate processors.
Professional Features.
Three Independent Feedback Compressors
Classic feedback compression on Low, Mid and High bands, inherited from Nuke MK1, for smooth musical dynamics with exceptional spectral control.
Dual Mode Crossover
Switch instantly between an Analog style crossover with soft overlapping slopes calibrated against reference hardware, or a Linear Phase crossover for pristine, artifact free band separation.
X/Y Sidechain Control
A dedicated X/Y frame lets you sculpt exactly what triggers each band's compressor. Isolate detection frequencies per band with independent High Pass and Low Pass filters, then shape the response with a switchable Bell or Flat curve, from broad, natural detection to razor focused frequency triggering.
Dry / Wet Blend
Blend the original and processed signals before the shared saturation stage for perfectly balanced parallel compression.
Link Out
Link all three output controls together while preserving the relative balance between bands.
Per Band Solo
Solo one band or any combination of two to monitor exactly what each compressor contributes.
Shared Soft Clip Saturation
One analog style saturation stage after recombination adds harmonics where they matter most.
Peak Limiter
Transparent true peak protection at the final output stage.
Real Time THD Meter
Monitor harmonic generation live and dial in the perfect amount of coloration.
High Resolution Gain Reduction Metering
Independent 32 dB gain reduction meters for each band provide accurate visual feedback.
Preset Management
Save, recall, copy and paste complete processing chains, including crossover mode and sidechain settings, with separate Factory and User preset libraries.
Built for Mixing & Mastering.
Mext adapts naturally to virtually any source: Drums. Bass. Vocals. Synths. Mix Bus. Master Bus.
From transparent multiband glue to aggressive, frequency targeted shaping, with the sidechain now steering exactly which content triggers each band, every control has been designed for fast, confident decisions across the entire spectrum.
Philosophy.
Calibration is not the final step. It is the foundation.
Every Side Key System processor is designed, measured, tested and calibrated throughout development to ensure stable behaviour, repeatable results and uncompromising precision.
Mext's crossover, in both its analog and linear phase modes, was calibrated against real hardware measurements and reference phase behaviour, because a multiband processor is only as good as the transitions between its bands.
Every parameter serves a purpose. Every interaction has been deliberately tuned.
Designed by Engineers. Built for Music.
Mext is entirely designed, coded and calibrated by Side Key System: no unnecessary features, no gimmicks, only precision multiband dynamics processing built to become part of your everyday workflow.
