Modus—Jeff Russo provides a toolkit that will spark new ideas and assist you in quickly implementing them.
Modus was commissioned by Emmy-winning composer Jeff Russo for his work on Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard and was designed specifically for TV scoring and underscoring.
Tensions, transitions, and continuums are easily performed in a variety of symphonic and choral genres.
You can construct sonic landscapes that no one has ever heard before by using a palette of distinct instrumental hues.
Tensions
Create on-screen suspense instantly: Using the modwheel as a tension controller, you can create complicated chords, overtone series, and clusters with a single key.
Transitions
Easily switch between scenes: Custom-recorded transitions build to a climax before changing mood with a different pitch or articulation.
Continuums
Carefully crafted pads shift across numerous layers and textures to create space and atmosphere, making them indispensable for underscoring.
21 instruments and ensembles
A diverse range of orchestral groupings, choirs, and percussionists. Plus, there's a beautiful shakuhachi, a choir chanting in Klingon, and Jeff Russo's creative instrument blends.
Shakuhachi - A high D and a low A shakuhachi, both performed expertly.
Vibes and Glock - A delicate chiming tone for "the sound of trek," in Jeff's words.
Klingon choir - A male choir that sings staccato and marcato with klingon vowels.
One of several custom-built patches for alto flutes and violas. It sounds fantastic and saves time.
Created with Jeff Russo
The collection was developed in collaboration with Jeff Russo for use in scoring Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. Jeff's TV composer credentials are impressive: he earned an Emmy for his work on the Fargo series and has composed music for Legion, Altered Carbon, The Umbrella Academy, and other shows. Lucy in the Sky, starring Natalie Portman, and Lizzie, featuring Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny, are two of his film scores.
