MonoChecker Free

MonoChecker Free is a free standalone audio utility from Darklight Audio that scans folders of WAV, AIFF, MP3, and other common audio file types to identify stereo files where the left and right channels are identical. It is designed to stay fast, focused, and uncluttered.

There are thousands of free compressors, EQ, synths, VI, FX, reverb, distortion, and so on. I wanted to create a free tool that saves engineers time. If every engineer could get back just a few minutes of each session, that would change the world. That's more time for mixing, to relax, to do a different project.

MonoChecker Free helps audio engineers, mastering engineers, producers, and studio professionals catch file-format mistakes before delivery, mastering, upload, or archiving. Once identified, users can replace unnecessary stereo files with true mono versions, potentially reducing those files' storage size by roughly half.
