Naada Pan Flute places a physically modeled set of panpipes inside GeoShred Studio, where each pipe's pure stopped-tube tone, breathy embouchure transitions, and gentle vibrato respond directly to pressure and gesture on the playing surface. The instrument is fully polyphonic, supporting chords and layered melodic lines simultaneously.

Works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, and GeoShred Control, a free iPhone and iPad companion app that delivers a multi-touch expressive surface for live performance.

Naada Pan Flute runs inside GeoShred Studio, placing the panpipes' clear, singing tone on GeoShred's multi-row continuous pitch surface. On a real pan flute, each stopped pipe produces a single pitch when the player blows across its open top, and pitches change by moving the lips from pipe to pipe. The model captures this characteristic single-pipe purity along with the breathy embouchure transitions between notes. Press into the surface to shape breath intensity and vibrato; slide across the grid to move fluidly between pitches. Because the instrument is polyphonic, you can voice full chords, layer parallel melodic lines, or sustain a harmonic bed while playing a lead melody above. GeoShred's integrated FX rack adds EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab processing directly in the signal chain.

One Pipe, One Pitch, One Pure Tone

The pan flute is among the oldest wind instruments in human history, with forms documented across ancient Greece, pre-Columbian South America, China, and Oceania. It consists of a series of stopped pipes of graduated lengths, each producing a single pitch when the player blows across its open top. Professional Romanian concert instruments typically carry 20 to 25 pipes arranged in a curved arc. The stopped-tube acoustics give each note a particular sweetness, and skilled players produce vibrato by rocking the instrument toward and away from the lips. The model captures this pure, slightly breathy character and the natural embouchure variation between adjacent pipes.

GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control

GeoShred Studio operates as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin inside major DAWs, or as a standalone application. Its isomorphic surface is tuned in perfect fourths, providing a layout where melodic intervals repeat consistently across rows. Pressure and gesture are mapped continuously to instrument parameters, making the surface a direct conduit for expression rather than a series of on/off triggers.

GeoShred Control is a free companion app for iPhone and iPad that connects via USB, adding a second multi-touch expressive surface for live performance. MPE hardware controllers and wind or breath controllers connect directly to GeoShred Studio as well.
