Noise Gate Plus is a software plug-in effect. It is designed for use as a creative sound effect, however, it can be used for noise reduction as well.
Noise Gate Plus is a noise gate that includes a number of features unique to Wire Grind's effects line. Noise Gate Plus has four special controls that use time, logic, and probability to control the gate. It also uses a special anti-click gating algorithm. Noise gates typically produce a clicking noise when there is either a short attack time or a short release time. With Noise Gate Plus, clicking noise is virtually silenced.
The special controls are Attack Delay, Early Release, Hold Closed, and Beat Skip. Attack Delay is just that. It delays the onset of the attack envelope. Early Release causes the gate to open after a set amount of time. Hold Closed is the opposite of the common Hold parameter. Rather than holding the gate open, the gate is held closed. Beat Skip is a feature that probabilistically mutes audio events. This feature borderlines on automatic computer improvisation.
