Plasma is the world's first intelligent tube saturator. With groundbreaking Flux Saturation technology, Plasma adaptively enhances your tracks by applying saturation precisely where and when it's needed, ensuring a dynamic and polished sound. Unlike traditional saturators that apply a static effect, Plasma's dynamic processing ensures your mix or master sounds consistently balanced and professional. Whether you're looking to quickly warm up your sound or douse your track in secret sauce, Plasma's intuitive interface and easy-to-use controls have you covered. And yes, you can use this on everything.

Highlights:

  • Intelligent saturation that intuitively gives your sound what it needs.
  • Equally powerful and helpful in mixing and mastering.
  • Sounds great on anything.
  • Dynamically reacts to your audio—not a blanket static effect.
  • Innovative and easy-to-use.
  • Avoid tedious automation lanes.
  • Supercharge your sound.
  • Turn up the heat.

Key features:

  • Flux Saturation: Plasma identifies what frequency areas need boosting and applies tube saturation to only those areas, and only when it's needed, giving your sound exactly what it needs.
  • Target Profiles: Powered by iZotope machine-learning tech, Plasma applies Flux Saturation according to one of 24 target profiles that you can set yourself. Pick the profile closest to your audio to guide Plasma's processing.
  • Character settings: Plasma applies adaptive saturation, which you can fine-tune using Attack and Release settings. Plus, turn up the Overdrive fader for some extra crispy, crunchy goodness.
  • Channel Modes and Frequency Handles: Use Plasma exactly where you need it. Focus Plasma on either the mid or side channels and transient or sustain parts of your signal, plus use the Frequency Handles to restrict processing to specific frequencies.
  • Tons of presets: With 49 presets for anything from individual mix elements to the entire master bus, it's easy to find a quick starting point with Plasma.
  • Intuitive interface: Access all of Plasma's controls in an easy-to-understand interface, featuring smooth metering and visualizations of what Plasma is adding to your sound.

New FFT goodnes from Izotope with Plasma !
Imagine Gullfoss and Spectre had a baby.
It would be similiar to this.
What we have here is dynamic tube saturation added via FFT processing and different profiles.
A combination that is new afaik.
[ Sideinfo: the FFT code seems to work with 16 bins. Which is a lot less resolution than for example Soothe2. But it seems to be the right spot for this one, the shown graph smoothed out just could be a bit missleading and suggesting more individual FFT bins ]
Normally I am not a fan of Izotope's frequency response profiles. They just didnt worked me so far. For EQ jobs for example I prefer the work from Sonible.
But this one is a different animal.
Theese profiles worked very well for me!
In the picture you can see Plasma filling the danger area from 200 to 500 Hz with tube saturation type harmonics very well.
This is the frequency area where you can try a lot of things and loose a lot of hair in the attempt to get it sounding full but not scooped.
Plasma's time parameters also seem to work really nicely transparent keeping it stable but dynamic as well.
This is a job I could do with Spectre in mastering as well - but it would be technically different process and not dynamically moving of course.
The effect can be very subtle and the added harmonics really dont go in too extreme, I really really like the smootheness of this one.
Just a tiny bit more body and fullness in this case, super nice.
And you can split it into mid side or even transient / sustain giving you two individual instances to control differently with differnt profiles even.
This one came out so simple and elegant yet so very effective.
Nice job Izotope. This one is really a make everything sound better plugin so far.
