I think it has been removed... Somebody knows where to find it? Or if it still exists?

This one is now free. Sounds just right but has problems rendering tight if using a big audio buffer.

Is there a Mac version floating out there somewhere?

THIS POST HAS BEEN REMOVED

Yes. Go to this page : http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5157778

At this day, both links to box.com work.

If one day this VST become totally impossible to find (whatever, Mac or Win)... one will only need to tell me its total disappearance and I'll mirror it on one of my websites (which are not music websites but it doesn't care).

Now you will find it here in my DepositFiles space where I put some freeware (and exclusively freeware) VSTs that have disappeared from the web, their original website being discontinued :

Do you have an updated link to the Mac version of this? Your dfiles URL appears to be empty. Thank you.

any clue as to how to get the presets to load as an entire bank? I have it loaded in sonar 6 and the presets aren't there, sure you could click on the synth and the presets work fine but as far as setting the MIDI bank changes in the particular channel it just doesn't read them. any help would be appreciated :)

There are no external presets in the ProsoloVst and there can't be.

The ARP Pro Soloist was not really a "synth", it wans a concept between "organ" and "synth". It was design as an improvement of the ARP Soloist, with the addition of some features to variate the play. There was only one oscillator and a very basic filter just to adjust a brilliance on the sound. All the 30 presets of the ARP Pro Soloist were directly made by the electronic devices without any possibilities to directly modify them. For some presets the oscillator provided a pulse and for the other presets it provided a sawtooth. There was an ADSR envelope available for the filter and an AR envelope available for the amplitude. That's all. The shape of the 30 sounds were made by an internal band pass filter, with no access to the musician. All the waveforms of the oscillator and the filter characteristics were programmed in a ROM (one of the first uses of digital memory in a cheap popular music instrument). So there was no manual adjustment for all theses parameters. A second internal electronic board was dedicated to the effects adjustable by an aftertouch sensibility on each key, these effects were the vibrato, a curious kind of growl, a wow (a kind of wahwah, a very basic LFO, the volume of the sound at the output of the VCA, the brilliance (the cutoff) of the filter, and a pitch bend. That's all. Some of these effects were available also via a knob. Period. And all these parameters were available to the musician by some switches or sliders only during his play, there wasn't any possibility to program anything previously and nothing to memorize.

For the sounds : 1 oscillator having 2 basic waveforms and 30 fixed sounds provided by an internal bandpass driven by the internal ROM. That's all.

And for the pleasure of playing: one VCF, one VCA, an envelope with ADSR for the filter and AR for the VCA, and an aftertouch to modulate a few these elements. That's all.

It was a concept in the middle between organ and very simplified synth.

But it was enough to sign some of the most legendary hours of the progressive rock.

No new preset can't be imaginable for that synth, the original hardware as long as its VST emulation. It was a "organ/synth" fixed for the eternity with its limitations. That's the reason why ARP made several years later (in 1977) a new model called the Pro/DG with a bit more features available, but above all they made in 1974 the Explorer I... which had really a feature to program several user presets and the ability to store them.

All these instruments are called "synths" but in fact they are somewhat a concept between "organ" and "synth". They were very popular because they were very simple and immediately usable on stage with awesome sounds made for leads that came in addition to the real synths (Axxe, Odyssey...) and to the String ensembles (Solina...)

And the VST ProsoloVst reproduced exactly the 30 sounds of the original hardware of the Pro Soloist and the features that were present in it for the pleasure of playing. Not less not more.

I you want I can send you the service manuals of all that.
