lkjb QRange is a IIR linear phase EQ with the following features:

  • 12 bands (sortable by frequency).
  • Each band can be used as peak, shelf and cut filter.
  • Cut filters are available with 12, 24 and 48 dB/oct steepness.
  • Stereo/Left/Right/Mid/Side routing per band.
  • Global gain for loudness adjustments.
  • Resizable user interface.
  • Gain Match (new in version 1.0.1).

  • Latency-free minimal phase mode (new in version 1.1.0).

The analyser can be set to analyse pre-EQ and post-EQ signal applying the same routings that are available per band. It is possible to adjust the analyser minimum/maximum magnitude by dragging the scale on the right (visible only if the analyser is active).

A menu which is available via the gearwheel provides:

  • Adjusting Analyser Range.
  • Adjusting frequency display magnitude.
  • Adjusting the plugin latency.
  • Setting a default EQ state and/or user interface size for new instances.

QRange uses IPlug-Youlean as plugin framework. From JUCE juce_core and juce_audio_basics modules are used.

Changelog:

  • 1.1.4:

    • Fixed low frequency distortion by adding "Process Mode" option.

  • 1.1.3:

    • Added option to draw the EQ curve a bit thicker.

    • Added option for band color hints to assign bands more easily to handles.

  • 1.1.2:

    • fixed vst3 crashing Cubase 10 when changing latency setting.

    • hopefully fixed tail playing when turning plugin off and on again in Logic.

  • 1.1.1:

    • once again fixed default settings not working properly (latency & filter type was not saved).

    • added option to run analyser only while user interface is showing.

  • 1.1.0:

    • fixed default settings not working correctly in case of overwriting old defaults.

    • fixed latency setting not being loaded with projects.

    • added added non Linear Phase but latency free mode.

  • 1.0.3:

    • fixed crash in Ableton Live when changing latency.

    • fixed QRange AU not validating (silent update without new version for macOS; reinstall plugin if this is encountered).

  • 1.0.2:

    • show whether gain match is possible.

    • change Q-factor in frequency view by ctrl-dragging the handle.

    • added presets.

  • 1.0.1:
    • user interface updat: filled analyser curve.
    • user interface udate: band color according to routing.
    • user interface update: rearranged buttons & different button style.
    • added gain match.
    • added band solo (right click on band number or via band handle context menu).
  • 1.0.0: First release.

Using this with Catalina 10.15.7 and Logic Pro X. 12 bands are brilliant and this sounds really good. The only problem I'm having is that it's spiking one of the CPU's bars hugely and often causing crackling sounds. Bypassing doesn't change that but as soon as I switch it off completely the spike goes down.

Best EQ I have ever used but I have a question. When loading presets, does QRange show which preset you are using? If it does, I can't see it! :-).

Congrats on this EQ! It sounds really great! With Latency maxed out, I'm getting an extremely accurate & clean response, that I usually only know from Eq's (Hw and Sw), that are much, much, much more expensive!:) I'm officially impressed! Keep up the great work.

Awesome plugin, thanks a bunch! That's an amazing level of functionaity and comfort for a freebie. I really like the sound from my first tests with it.

Does it generate different IRs from different latencies? I stick with "Insane" and it sounds great to me, but I wonder if I placeboed myself.

Thanks.

"added added non Linear Phase but latency free mode."

Great, thank you! :).

Works fine as a VST2x64, but the VST3 crashes my Ableton Live 1.9/Windows 10 setup. FYI.

As far as I know Ableton doesn't support VST3 (correct me if I'm wrong).

Hey all. Can anyone help? I've tried downloading this plugin so many times but my computer can't open the files. I'm not technically inept but I'm also not super tech savvy. I also tried downloading the "framework" IPlug-Youlean (?) and I downloaded whatever JUCE had to offer but still the program won't install. I use Mixcraft 8 so I'm not even sure I can use this plugin (I think I can). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time. I have Windows 7.

If you've never installed any plugins in form of a DLL/VST3 before, you should google how to do it for your DAW.
It would involve you unpacking the zip and putting plugins in a specific folder on your disk, then scanning for the plugins in your DAW. After that, they would become available.

If you would download this plugin from this page (a .zip with 4 files in it, dlls and vst3s) and would follow the needed steps, it would definitely work.

Really advise you to get used to it because it's a process that is not hard and that you would have to go through a lot if you'd like to expand your pallette :) Best of luck.

Thanks so much! Sorry, I didn't respond sooner... the notification went to my spam folder in my email.

That's perfect. I guess I had installed other plugins that were installed in a more user friendly, "click the install button" kind of way.

I moved the unzipped files to my VST folder and it worked out perfect. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.

Good free alternative to an infamous plugin eq that costs more than 650 €.

Pls note that products like 32-bit Lives and Unify let you use 32-bit pluggs in a 64-bit only DAW. Also BlueCats Patchwork works in that respect. The only thing they do not convert are those old ones that depends on Rosetta. Removed from the MAC around Lion.

I understand what can be used with bridges, but this will be a crutch and this method does not suit me. And don't forget. - 32lives and unify - cost money and not a free

I really hope that the author of the plugin will create a 64-bit version that will work without problems in mac os catalina.

Gracias, Danny - For some reason Chrome was not allowing me to download by clicking on those links, but if I right-clicked I could save the .zip. I had to also give Chrome permission to keep the file because it was an unsecure download, apparently. So, the problem was on my end, with browser settings. Thank you for your assistance.

Download doesn't work. It redirects to general list of plugins for Windows. Can this be fixed?

It does, you're just pressing the wrong button, as I did before (cause I saw it on old KVR).

Scroll to the top, look to your left, there's a "Downloads" section. It links directly to a zip file. Hope it helped.

If this doesn't work, then there's something wrong with your firewall/browser settings, or maybe the developer's site was down.
