REAPER Recording Template – Satson Console Version

A REAPER recording template built around REAPER stock plug-ins combined with Satson Channel and Satson Buss by Sonimus (third-party plug-ins not included).

This version mirrors the structure of the stock template while introducing a console-style signal flow using Satson for channel and bus processing. All routing and layout decisions assume Satson is available and correctly instantiated.

The template is not tied to any specific REAPER theme or GUI and remains fully compatible with custom skins.

What's included

The session uses the same structured track layout as the stock REAPER version, covering common production needs such as drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars, keys, lead vocals, and backing vocals.

Each track is routed with Satson Channel in-line and grouped through Satson Buss for bus-level control. Stock REAPER processing is used alongside Satson where appropriate.

FX auxiliary sends are preconfigured using stock REAPER tools and optional freeware, including plate, room, and hall reverbs, tempo-synchronized delay, stereo widening, and JS-based saturation. Optional vocal doubling workflows are documented within the session.

The mix bus is routed through Satson Buss, with optional support for external limiting if desired.

Design assumption (important)

This template is built around a −3 dB reduction applied to audio item gain before mixing.

Modern recordings typically arrive hotter than the gain structure assumed by console-style workflows. Without reducing item gain, channel and bus stages will be driven earlier than intended.

All dynamics, EQ, saturation, summing, and routing decisions in this template assume this −3 dB reduction is in place. Track faders can be raised later as needed.

Optional freeware (not included).

Some workflows reference commonly used freeware tools that are not bundled with the template. These are optional and may be substituted with stock processing.

Examples include ADT-style vocal doubling utilities and transparent brickwall limiters.
