smart:comp 3 is the latest iteration of Sonible's intelligent compressor plug-in, featuring a spectral processing engine designed to balance dynamic range while maintaining tonal clarity. The core of the update is the new Compression Matrix, a visualization tool that maps out a field of viable compression settings based on the input signal. This allows users to move between different compression characters seamlessly rather than relying on a single static suggestion, facilitating a workflow based on sonic characteristics rather than purely numerical parameters.

The plugin now supports Group Mode, enabling users to link multiple instances for consistent control of threshold, ratio, and envelope settings across groups of tracks. Additional workflow improvements include a Zero-latency mode for recording applications (minimum-phase), refined input riding for level stabilization prior to compression, and an enhanced "Style" control with defined attack and release behaviors.
