Spectravox

The Moog Spectravox is a unique and captivating semi-modular analog spectral processor that opens up a new world of sound-shaping possibilities. At its heart, Spectravox is an analog vocoder, but its capabilities extend far beyond classic robotic vocals. It functions as a powerful 10-band filter bank, allowing you to analyze and re-synthesize any external sound source, or to process its own internal analog oscillator. This allows you to impress the timbral characteristics of one sound onto another, creating rich, complex, and often surprising sonic hybrids. It's a creative tool for sculpting audio in ways you've never imagined.

Spectravox features a lush, warm analog Moog oscillator and a white noise generator as internal sound sources (the "carrier"). You can then plug any external sound, like a voice, drum machine, or another synthesizer, into the program input (the "modulator"). The 10-band filter bank analyzes the modulator and applies its spectral fingerprint to the carrier. The semi-modular design, with its extensive 16-point patch bay, allows you to break these connections and use the filter bank, oscillator, and VCA as independent modules within a larger Eurorack system. Whether you're creating shimmering vocal textures, rhythmic filter patterns, or entirely new sonic lifeforms, Spectravox is an inspiring tool for any sonic adventurer.
