I have found that a collection of different drum VI's gives you a great selection of different drum sounds depending on the genre you are playing. The sounds included in SSD5 seem to be very good so far. I have not been able to go through all of them just yet but im very happy with the purchase. They will suit some rock and metal very well. SSD5 is a good purchase to get when its on sale.

Using SSD5 mainly with my E-Drums (Alesis Crimson II).

Sound quality is amazing and the articulations are great.

Overall it does great job and especially the mapping that match my E-Drum.

Here is an overview which is basically a tutorial.

I was trying all drum samplers around like Groove Agent 4, EZ Superior Drummer, FXpansion BFD3 and others. To me SSDP4 is a little bit better than BFD3. Sounds realistic. Worth to buy.

...as long as sync to host while auditioning grooves isn't important to you. Made me furious when I discovered that. Don't bother with the SSD forum. Was dead for months after I left polite, constructive suggestions. Not even an acknowledgement. I knew I was on my own at that point. Yep. I'm bitter.
