It contains classic controls as well as some advanced features in the advanced panel for more control on your sound. StupidCompressor is open source in the hope that it will help other developers in their own development and that other developers can help make StupidCompressor even better.

Its education tool for showing you how compressor works, its nice for that.

From musical perspective it introduces too much artifacts. Some stock DAW plugins are much worse but there are better free plugins, so no reason to use it for real music.

Pretty much sums up my ideas about it now too. I'm a visual learner so I wanted to help others that couldn't afford bigger plugins like Pro-C or Izotope Neutron (to name a few). It's one of those things that I don't use, but hopefully someone will benefit from it.
