TRIODE

TRIODE is the enhanced version of my Reyes 303 tube amp model. The circuit stays exactly as I measured it from the real amp, component by component. What's new is everything around it: +40 dB of drive going in, an IR loader coming out, a MIX knob, 4x oversampling, and a big oscilloscope viewer.

The amp is a Class A design, similar to a Champ, built around vintage radio tubes: a 12SQ7 triode preamp, imparting even order harmonics. Into a 50L6 pentode output stage, which generates odd-order harmonics. This results is a rich, moving and breathing saturation.

TIP: Turn down the main output near the IR loader to -12dB, and then crank the GAIN and OUTPUT on the amp to drive the amp into full saturation.

The +40 dB of clean gain drives the model from lo-fi grit to full saturation. The IR loader handles cab simulation, so the whole signal chain lives in one plugin. And the oscilloscope and spectral viewer let you watch the action.
