The Behringer Waves is a versatile and deeply programmable modulation source for Eurorack, bringing the powerful functionality of the acclaimed Mutable Instruments Tides into your modular system. This module is a "Tidal Modulator," meaning it excels at generating complex and interconnected control voltage signals that can function as looping envelopes, unique LFOs, and even as a digital audio oscillator. It is designed to be a central source of movement in a patch, capable of producing everything from gentle, evolving drifts to complex, rhythmic polyphonic animations.

Waves can operate in three primary modes: as a cycling ADSR-style envelope, a free-running complex LFO, or a one-shot AD envelope. A standout feature is its ability to produce four related outputs simultaneously, which can be phase-shifted, frequency-divided, or amplitude-shifted relative to the main output. This makes it incredibly powerful for creating musically related modulation, such as quadrature LFOs for stereo panning or harmonically related clocks. The shape of the waveform is continuously variable, allowing you to morph smoothly from a sharp ramp to a soft sine wave to a punchy sawtooth, with full CV control over this and other key parameters like frequency and smoothness.

Features

  • Inspired by the Mutable Instruments Tides tidal modulator.
  • Functions as a complex LFO, looping envelope, AD envelope, and digital oscillator.
  • Produces four simultaneous outputs that can be musically related in phase or frequency.
  • Continuously variable wave shaping from smooth to spiky.
  • Three primary modes: Looping (LFO), Triggered (AD Envelope), and Gated (ADSR Envelope).
  • "Slope" control adjusts the Attack/Decay curve for creating a wide variety of shapes.
  • "Smoothness" control adds filtering and character to the waveform.
  • Full CV control over all major parameters for deep, evolving modulation.
