Wow and Flutter - Tape Speed Modulation for Linux

Wow & Flutter emulates the subtle pitch instability of aging tape machines and vinyl players. Wow is the slow, drifting pitch variation caused by motor speed inconsistencies and reel eccentricity. Flutter is the faster wobble from worn capstans and tape path irregularities. Together they give recordings an organic, slightly unstable character that makes digital audio feel alive.

Built specifically for Linux, it runs as a CLAP plugin.

Controls:

• Wow Rate - how fast the slow pitch drift cycles, between 0.1 and 2 Hz.
• Wow Depth - intensity of the wow.
• Flutter Rate - speed of the faster wobble, between 4 and 20 Hz.
• Flutter Depth - intensity of the flutter.

Good for:

Lo-fi hip hop, cassette and tape aesthetics, vintage sound design, or just subtly humanizing synths and samples that feel too rigid and digital.
