Zen Delay

The Erica Synths Zen Delay is a one-of-a-kind stereo delay effects unit that masterfully combines the flexibility of digital processing with the warmth and character of an all-analog, tube-driven multi-mode filter. Created in collaboration with the renowned DJ and producer Moritz von Oswald, the Zen Delay is designed as a performance instrument, offering an intuitive, hands-on interface that encourages real-time manipulation and creative expression. It is a tool built for adding depth, dimension, and powerful dynamics to synthesizers, drum machines, guitars, or even full mixes. Its unique architecture makes it equally adept at creating subtle spatial effects, classic dub delays, and extreme, feedback-driven sonic destruction.

The Zen Delay's architecture is both powerful and straightforward. It features a high-quality stereo digital delay engine with up to 5000ms of delay time, which can be synchronized to an external MIDI clock or set manually using the large, central delay time knob and a tap tempo button. The delay offers five distinct modes: Tape, Tape Ping-Pong, Digital Ping-Pong, Digital, and a unique Vintage mode, each providing a different sonic flavor. The true soul of the unit, however, lies in its analog heart. The signal path includes a formidable 24dB/octave multi-mode filter that can be switched between low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass modes. Critically, this filter can be placed at different points in the signal chain—either on the delay input, the output, or only within the feedback loop, vastly expanding the creative possibilities. Driving the entire unit is a vacuum tube overdrive circuit that can be dialed in to add everything from gentle warmth and saturation to aggressive, screaming distortion, giving the Zen Delay its signature organic and powerful sound. Housed in a rugged metal case with large, satisfying knobs, the Zen Delay is built to be played.
