Here at Aberrant we create exciting, affordable tools for creative mixing and audio production. Our goal is to offer you various ways of introducing color, intrigue, and personality into your mixes, and help you achieve a refreshing and engaging sound. We believe that the mixing and production stages of making music are important parts of the creative process, and the tools you use should ignite a spark for new ideas and innovation, rather than simply guide you toward a clean, polished mix.
Our way of meeting that goal is by creating plugins that offer up sounds that are uncommon in today's digital audio workflows. We are always trying to find new ways to tweak the formulas that people have come to expect from common effects by introducing glitches, modulations, and misbehaviors that are all deeply user controllable.
If you want something strange, exciting, and entirely different in your mixes, you've come to the right place.
Aberrant always make very useable stylised odd interfaces on their plugs, but are still intuitive to use.
Lair is very left field for them, this very much aimed at shoegaze, any goth genre or horror sound-spaces.
It makes some good plate like spaces, and very long drone reverbs. Very useable.
The demo is certainly top notch and it is up there on the list of things to buy if I sell samples or something.

very cool little plugin with 4 one-knob effect modules- a lovely glittery bitcrusher/sample degradation; an effect that can only be described as a sort of lo-fi smeary reverb; a nice warm and gritty tape simulation with more warble and flutter the higher the knob goes; and a very nasty (in a good way) compressor with a ton of character for nice gluing together. Simple in concept but the execution is beautiful- all 4 effects sound great but the standout is probably the purple alien reverb(?) module, as it is very murky and unique- I think it will be getting a lot of use in my tracks.

Best. Compressor. Ever.
It's easy to slip into complex lofi & over the top sounds with this, but if you understand what's going on it's also easy to cook up some tasty and stylish high end compression sounds.
It is more than a compressor though:
it's a tone shaper
it's a saturator
it's an upward
and a standard downward compressor
plus a mixture of all of the above.

I freakin' love this plugin. With so many tape plugins out these days, it's difficult to stand out. Well... Aberrant solved that problem with its trademark take on GUIs. But there is much more than meets the eye. This plugin sounds amazing, grants full control over how much or little an effect that's needed, and stands up to the competition (most of which I also own). I find myself going to this plugin again and again when I need to de-sterilize a track and throw some funk at it. It does wonders for hi-hats, synths, you name it. It just works.
