Metallurgy: Thrash

This really does what it says on the box! Three top class amp models and everything you need to play thrash metal riffs at any speed, and a fourth amp model for those clean sounds, all based on real amps. The cab section has eight cab sims, including a Mesa Boogie Oversized with V30 speakers, two Bogner Uberkabs, T75 and V30 speakers, and two Marshall 1960 4x12, T75 and V30 speakers, ten (not eight) mics and two mic channels and mics are all adjustable from centre to edge as well as distance, an additional channel for room, and a channel strip type four band EQ. All top quality, if you need some variation you can load two IRs into the two mic channels. The effects are of very high quality as well. I can only see three effects pre-amp and two post amp, the presentation says four and three, unless they include the pitch shifter which only works as a capo and only changes the pitch of what you're playing five semitones up or down, nice for those who only know one key, and one more is still missing as far as I can tell. Not that it matter much, two overdrives and a delay gets most done, and the Automatic Double Tracking is pretty cool.

Helix Native

Helix Native is an excellent amp sim from the company that pretty much invented the category. Presets can be shared between Helix Native and Helix hardware, so the hardware can act as an accelerator for your computer system, and you can take the exact sound you used in the studio to a gig. Of course it will need a bit of tweaking for the live system. The GUI is totally resizable, easy to use, and there are many many sonic possibilities. It's set up as a signal path with effects inserted.

Of course there is an inter-ap store where you can buy additional presets and impulses for what seems to me like reasonable prices.

It's not inexpensive, but delivers, especially if you own Helix hardware.
