Way Out Ware

When using a MIDI control surface with this, you can control any of the sliders, and moving your controller will cause the sound to change as expected. However, the slider on the GUI does not move while you move your MIDI controller (while every other synth known to mankind does do), so there is no visual feedback on the screen for where the slider actually is set. They really need to fix this but so far have not even acknowledged the issue. At least it does move the GUI slider to the right place if you save the preset and later recall it.

There is a lot of wasted space on the GUI and the graphics are a bit blurry and the shadows are way overdone for my taste. This is basically a 10+ year old product that has been "modernized" to VST3. The VST3 version often stutters and dies when fed with an arpeggiator. Tuning this thing s a nightmare. There are no "snaps" on the tuning sliders, and the shift+mouse to micro-tune is clunky and not smooth at all. The preset manager does not allow to double click a preset to load it, you have to select it and then click the load button. It also does not support "favorites".

All of the negatives out of the way, it does sound good, and imo is one of the more authentic sounding ARP 2600 emulations. And its great to have poly and it has a couple of nice poly features. The original product was ahead of its time and great in its day. But this version feels like an old product that has been "modernized" by people that know nothing about actually using this to make music. Its probably worth the "on-sale" price if you like the sound and want poly. But be prepared to face all of its shortcomings. It could have gotten 5 stars, but as it stands, its three stars for me.

Above average gears. I'm only missing a netter cabeling indication. Maybe they add this later.
