Yeah, "free plugs only" might not work out, I've just heard of collabs being done that way and it leaves the ability to alter plug settings for each participant.
I'm game for whatever. Someone let me know if you can use some guitar parts.

I don't understand why there's not a slew of collabs happening already. It's so easy with tracktion.
I started a tune a couple of months ago for a tracktion collab. Never got around to uploading it, so now's as good a time as any.
Tracktion Collab
You will need the following plugs to get it to work (all free):
Classic Reverb
Classic EQ
Classic Phaser
Blockfish
MDA Stereo
FloFi
CamelPhatFree
Chimecho
ERSDrums
It's just drums and ambience right now, but I wanted to leave lots of room for collaboration. Anyone interested?

perhaps it would be a good idea to upload a small example mp3 of its current state, so those without the plugins would be able to have an idea for the current sound; not having just one plugin may result in a drastically different overall sound. of course you could say that person is being idle for not making the effort, but then some (like me!) feel that discipline in not overcrowding the ol' plugin folder is something to be upheld wherever possible. don't fall to the dark side!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Yes it is ambient in nature...but that could change.
Here's a link to the MP3 file for previewing
I understand about the plugin crowding, but most of those are plugs that I think should be in everyone's collection. The Classic series, for example, is essential.

Sounds more like IDM to me. I like the first part better, it sounds promising but the ambience later on is not my thing, becomes a bit too blurred imho. And as i'm on mac i can't use the classic plugs...
Another thing: it might be a good idea to leave the finetuning and mixing and eq'ing to the last, and have it done by one person- that way you can just send an audio track of how you think it should sound, and another one but without compression, reverb and eq, so that that person can do that according to what is required at that point in the work.
Anyway, i thought it might be a good idea to have a listen to what everyone here does... Uhm, i must say i don't have a place where i can upload stuff so i'll have to wait until my roommate gets home, but i'll upload a song as soon as possible (if you're interested)...
So who's in anyway?
Anyone here particularly good at mixing?

Hm, not too much interest apparently...
I was thinking maybe we could do a tale of the 1001 nights- adventures, love affairs, good vs bad, fairly simple characters, exotism: perfect mix (no pun intended)...

If you've never tried it you shouldn't say that, it's not as difficult as you'd first imagine...
I expect more difficulties getting the thing to sound consistent with several people involved.
But hey, this is only a proposition, if anyone has an idea just share it...
