I see there is a Poll on the support Forum looking at how many people use the Audio Jam - I hope this doesn't mean it might be dropped in a future release (I know I know, getting a little ahead there . . .

I can see this being something that really makes waves. The only thing I think tht might enhance it in a future release would be the ability to quickly audition a style and fill/intro/ending but hey - what a package already at version 1
Thank you very much, Timmyo!

No, we will not drop the Audio Jam; the poll is designed to help us identify how much resources we can justify putting into extending it.

Your suggestions about style and F/I/E preview are in the pipe, but not for 1.0 ...

Much appreciate your kind words!

While Jamstix doesn't drink your beer we did put in some ingenious screen refresh algorithm that manipulates the magnetic emissions of your monitor to cause any beer within 15 feet of it to go flat.

You have been warned :hihi:

** EDIT ** I didn't spot the button to change from "Jam with midi" to "jam with audio". Doh. It now works.
** EDIT **

Zauni, does the audio M8 work with prerecorded wavs in Tracktion? I'm demo-ing this on a pc without a decent audio in, so i've put jamstix on one track, dropped a wav file of me playing bass onto another track and put the audio m8 on the track with the wav file.

I see the audio m8 meter pick up the audio, but if i use a volume filter on that track to drop the volume (before it hits the audio m8 ), nothing at all changes in the jamstix part. It doesn't change to sidestick, or to ride cymbal or anything like that.

If i mute the wav track and hit play, nothing changes either, jamstix merrily plays along with nothing. In fact if i delete the track with the wav file and audio m8 jamstix still happily plays along as it was before. This is in Free Jam mode.

Everyone seems to be raving about this product, so I'm keen to have a proper play, but I'm not getting it yet

Cheers

Another quick question (or bug report), the fill frequency slider doesn't seem to work as i'd expect in tracktion (although i wonder if this could be related to the dropped first note bug?)

Basically if you set the fill frequency to 4, and then hit play, and go to the arrangement tab, Jamstix writes a fill in bar 3. It then waits four bars and writes another fill in bar 7, then another in bar 11 etc.

This happens with any value of fill frequency, it seems to do the first fill a bar too early.

Sorry for posting in the Tracktion forum about this, but i'm not clear if it's a tracktion or a Jamstix issue

You appear to be running an older version of the Jamstix demo. This has been fixed. Please make sure you are running version 0.99Q (ABOUT tab in Jamstix)

We are trying to give you a lot of different workflows with Jamstix (manual arrange, manual play, Jam with MIDI, Jam with Audio, free jam, key word jam etc.), which causes some unavoidable GUI complexity.

If you have any problems, just post in the Jamstix - Support forum at rayzoon.com and we'll help you quickly.

Hi Zauni,

I'd already downloaded the 0.99Q demo update, and ran it, but looking at the about tab now i've still got version 0.99C. Odd. Don't worry about it though, i'll figure it out.

As to the gui, it is a bit complex at first, but it's all falling into place now, and i'm getting really excited about this product :) Looks like you may well have another sale, I need to test drive it on my music laptop first, but I'm liking it a lot

I've a couple of other minor issues, but I'll post them in the rayzoon forum, i'm sure they're no big deal to sort out

Cheers!

Sounds as if the Jamstix DLL didn't get overwritten by the lovely InstallShield.

Here's a link to the DLL only. You can just overwrite your existing one and you've got Q.

Many bug fixes and enhancements between C and Q

Hi Zauni,

Thanks again. Honestly my last post here about this, and then i'll go to the rayzoon forum ;) , but it's because installshield updater puts the dll into Program Files\steinberg\vstplugins\jamstix demo, rather than my actual install directory of D:\vstplugins\jamstix demo. I've manually copied it over now from the other directory

Thanks again

Yes, I noticed the DLL's didn't get installed into the directory I expected. Might want to check the installer code.

Post

The installer defaults to PF\steinberg... so if you changed it in the original install than you have to point the update to it. We'll fix that in the next update.
