"Missed" - that is an understatement of the century...

Try not to be more of an arse than you already are. Its less than a month so far. Compared to some other missed release dates out there, thats absolutely bloody nothing. And you know its just around the bloody corner yet you're still whining.

Jesus, Tracktion users must include the most childish and petulent bunch of whingers on the sodding planet.
what is just around the corner? IT's been "just around the corner for very long time" And it's not whining (although so many people like to say that) it's frustration.

Post

It's whining. ;)

"A very long time"????? Get real.

eyeknow, you really don't have a sense of perspective. Other products that ended up being vapourware didn't have magazine reviews of it, didn't have a company's marketing department create 4-page advertisements for it, didn't have known beta testers, and didn't have some goofball in a lab-coat and goggles demoing it.

Whether or not YOU can see that it's just around the corner is irrelevant and alarmist. Many other products have taken much longer.

Must suck allowing yourself to be 'frustrated' by something so trivial.

I have an exceedingly logical brain. What you're demonstrating isn't logic, but lack of patience. ;) Most of the time, my logical brain reads these threads and goes, "what are these people THINKING?"

A LOGICAL brain would already draw the correct conclusions. It's not like they're holding back just to piss off a handful of impatient (but loyal!) Tracktioneers. A logical brain would have concluded that the product is stable (it would have to be, for people to review it) and that there are obviously just a few administrative details to take care of before release, some of which might have been unanticipated. I don't know exactly what they are, but my LOGIC tells me that Mackie and RMS are even more anxious to release this program than we are to get it, so any hold-ups are almost definitely (again, drawing on logic here) either necessary or simply unforseen.

if not tracktion is the reason for not being released because of bugs (and that IS what i believe) than i hate mackie. jules had working his ass off (i think) to get it stable at releasedate and mackie...?! what takes them so long, they have had 1 year to plan the marketing, the deals and what ever..
btw, i think all betatesters should be quiet on blaming unpatience people, they have it ;) (not really)

It's amazing how so many people get their panties in a wad when something doesn't go their way.

So they missed early march. It's not the end of the freakin world. And it's not uncommon. I would guess that it's not even all Mackie's fault, since the main holdback seems to be contracts with plug-in vendors.

Some people think it's their job to gripe and complain every two seconds because T2 isn't in their hands yet. Really, get a life and make some music or something. Go buy some other software. Your constant griping isn't going to change the information that Mackie can give us. Threatening to go elsewhere is probably a relief for Mackie.

So go be happy with your "brilliant" Cubase(LAUGH of the century!!!) or your overrated, missing feature Live 4 and leave us alone. You're not being logical, rather the opposite. This must be the first new piece of software you've ever bought. You have no idea how things are. Nobody screwed you, so get over it.

Ok, I'm done rambling. Mackie, please take your time to get things right. The logical people here understand.

I work in QA and think I have some insight, and I'd guess they found P1 bug late in the game. A showstopper that made them shit themselves. That's the best reason I can figure why they sent copies out for review but still haven't announced a release date. I figure if it were only some logistic issues, they could have still given a date. Maybe some of the third parties have pulled out of the bundle deal. But I'd guess it's a big bug that's holding up the release. If that's the case, I'm certain it is better for them to fix it than ship. As long as it doesn't take too much longer to fix.

I do think it would be nice for Mackie to give this group of hard-core loyalists a bit more insight into what the delay is. Just out of respect really, but I definitely wouldn't expect it.

My company announced an embedded product (mini-itx mobo + XP Embedded + over 300MB of custom software) in November, but began shipping in February. It was supposed to ship by the end of 2004.

I've worked in product and software development for over 20 years. It is not at all uncommon for technical products to slip, usually due to bug fixes/feature adds (sometimes that's the same thing ). Usually the only alternatives to schedule slip are to cut features or ship bugs. And we don't want either of those. It will be ready when it's ready. Meanwhile, let's all go make music.

i will have bugs, because only 1000ths of people will find them not just some betatesters. there's no complex software on the market without any bugs ;)

Agreed. Be nice to keep the major ones to a minimum, though. And if the holdup is for a "major" bug, it's worth it. Jules would not hold up T2 indefinitely just for chasing teeny weeny bugs.

Plus, I recall Beno mentioning that the feature number has gone up since originally released. This is a good thing. And if there were any bugs found during testing, I would rather they fix it then have 20 people complain about it here because it "should have been fixed" before release. You know it will happen.

It really isn't that big of deal. They haven't missed the mark by that much. Actually, VERY little. And I don't blame them for not giving a date. They may not know how long it will take to finish off contracts. There is supposed to be over 70 plug-ins included. That's quite a few companies that had to change their code to only work with T2, then sign contracts, figure out how they will handle plug-in updates, etc. I'm quite sure that there are many good reasons for the hold up. Again, as it's been said, I don't think Jules or Mackie would purposly string along customers just for the sake of doing so. Some people seem to think that this is all being done on purpose to screw us over. Yeah, right.

We know by now that Beno nor Jules can say anything until it's ready. That's just the way it goes, and the way it will be. It won't change.

I want T2 as much as the rest of you. Everyone does. And yes, I would like to know the release date. But be realistic, and reallize that by griping every two hours, nothing is changing. It brings things down. Just be patient, it will come. And I think it will be better than we expect(well, most of us  )

I'm tired of being sick. It's making me cranky. I need sleep........
