I really like this, cheeze or not. The singer's got talent, and you've shown some talent of your own putting together this edit.

Good on ya.

it's one of the few "nothing but fun" songs that keep working after you get used to "the trick" (delay lama in this case :D ).

and it's extremely high energy and it simply screams: it's summer! 8)

the mix actually is rather shite, I know, but apparently the song works nonetheless for some people... 8)

try concentrating on what's special about your music and expand on this regardless of what style it turns out to be... - just be yourself! :-)

Thanks Jens! Been thinking this over the whole day, and as cliched that advice may be, it's true and good.

Besides other, non-musical reasons (such as general identity problem (a daytime suit & restoftime hippie :)), living together with my love (no more artistically inspiring moments of desperate loneliness, and no more late-night noodlings!) and having a major freetime project) I've been wasting my time trying to make the same music as others!

Rather simple, when I think about it. Making the usual things is easy, I'm pretty good at synth&sound programming general so my tunes tend to sound good, but I've most probably lost interest in them before they are finished because they lack a part of my "soul".

Writing/talking something out loud sometimes helps out a lot. I'm going to pursue my oldest ambitions.

Thanks KvR!

On the subject of writers block / same old working methods, has anyone tried those crazy brian eno card things?

http://www.rtqe.net/ObliqueStrategies/OSintro.html

I read about them a while ago, thought they sounded quite interesting yet have to meet anyone who's used them?

valley, sad to find you sitting in the same boat.

In addition to repeating my jenspired realization of "I need to make music for myself again and not for & like the others", I can only recommend you read some of the SOS articles about artists and how some albums were made. I stumbled upon stories about Mathmos & Autechre among others, and it was quite encouraging to read how these guys started. The most important hint I got from those is the amount of timen it has taken for them to make the music they make today.

I have abandoned many of my more personal projects, as I couldn't get them to sound the way I heard them in my head... making a "formula" or genre tune, otoh, offers very fast satisfaction- and that's the trap! Under the (stupid, self-originating) pressure of getting something finished, I've resorted to the easiest solution.

Another thing I've thought of recently is inspiration in relation to time. Some years ago I lived by myself and did shorter days, so I could make music whenever I felt like it. Today, my "studio time" is much more scarce, and usually takes place on Sundays, from the morning to late afternoon. And quite honestly, I'm unable to convoy anything else but sleepy, half-assed positive vibes on Sunday mornings, and many times I've ended up with sort slowed-down cheese tarnce if I went with the flow.

I hope that having a better plan will make these short studio hours more fruitful, I'm going to set some goals for myself instead of pointless musings with the sound.

Congratulations to anyone who completed this self-analysis report, if you didn't gain anything, at least you've whitnessed someone feeling a lot better :D

Right now I'm finishing up tracking for a local folk/rock band - http://www.thedreamscapesproject.com . Cello, bass, drums, 12 string guitar and vocals. I personally have just been doing the vocals and cello, and Tracktion is doing quite well for the job.

My own current productivity problems stem mostly from my job: I spend all day listening to commercial music, analysing it, and programming MIDI versions, so when I get home in the evenings I often find it hard to focus on my own tunes, and end up fiddling around in Synthedit instead..

My tunes mainly get written at weekends now, and (since becoming single again) have to fit themselves around chasing tail.

I do a bit of everything in T1. I find that it's good for quick nitty gritty work.

I've mainly been using it for demos, but am making the jump to producing finished product with it (Just purchased Reaktor Session). Easier than ProStools LE, tho' I still rely on that program a fair amount.

All the stuff from 2004/2005 is Tracktion based, and most other audio on my site has been tweaked using it (I've been slowly digitizing ten year old+ 4-track recordings).

T2... bring it on!

I guess most of my music can be described as fairly chilled-out. I've used Tracktion the past several months for my entries into the KVR contest. Tracktion handles recording the guitar and vocal parts and the keys, strings, drums, etc.. are done in Reason rewired to Tracktion.

A couple of my better recent entries:

Come

Ambient Score

and this month's entry:
It's Okay

Almost all my solo work for the past several months has been for the KVR contests. I find having a monthly deadline to get a song done motivates me to actually finish and get out my songs.
