Is the stuck first note issue resolved or not?

Not sure about MIDI clips but I think the Tracktion time base resolution isn't ppq based, it's sample accurate to the selected rate. Hence you can change the displayed time base to almost anything including milliseconds, and tempo-related terms like "tick" and "beat" becomes irrelevant.platinumears wrote:Do you actually know how long 1 tick is? 1/960th of a beat!![]()
Also worth mentioning that a MIDI NOTE ON event takes 30 bits/31250 bits/s = .960ms or nearly 1 whole ms, just to transmit it down the wire (for external gear). Of course, when triggering a VST, this delay isn't incurred.
My points are:
1) Tracktion internal time base is extremely precise
2) MIDI message timing is relatively imprecise
3) External MIDI gear has relatively high latency
4) A large number of MIDI messages sent to an external synth could very well "choke" to the point of being unacceptable for video. This has very little to do with Tracktion however.

Good to know that it has been reported. I have to ask though, although rhetorically, why is T2 coming out then?
I just finished scoring 2 videos, and a third on the way; all done in T1 and a notepad to note bar number of important event, without even any form of video support and honestly, I don't see starting on bar 2 as a problem at all. You will have to position your soundtrack in your NLE anyway and probably do last minutes tweaking in there also; and with my limited playing with QT and T2 it seems to have start offset anyway. And to conclude, if starting on bar 2 has proven to be unacceptable, one measly tick is infinitely more precise than an orchestral conductor following a movie playing in the background.

I'm not saying it can't be done, of course you can. Hell, you can score something with a click book & a fourteen string Philiipino madolin and still get it somewhat precise. My point is, it shouldn't be that difficult, not when it's obviously something that should be fixed....Ezy Ryder wrote:tkmattson wrote:That's fine if you're just making a tune, but if you're soundtrack scoring, and start on bar one or two, or even one tick later, and you can't somehow bump the video the same amount, the Quicktime feature then becomes useless.
