Stop! you guys are making me want to go back! I haven't been to Kauai or Kona since I was a kid, but recently went to Maui (last year). I proposed to my fiance right there on the beach in Ka'anapali. I know hotels/resorts--evil evil evil--and what not, but it was perfect cos noboby was there..off season I s'pose? beaches were empty! and so beautiful. Ate quite a bit in near Paia cos it was all rasta hippified... just as a whole, met lots of really chill folks. Loved it! wouldn't mind a *much* longer stay! :help: :D

Plenty guys selling akule out of their trucks in Lihue.

You would not believe the price of land out in Kekaha now...!!
I dont believe the price of land in Kona -- thanks Donnald Trump

I remember when 88 acres with 40 acres of Lychie trees was up for sale in Kapaahi for 800k -- last time I saw it Speilberg had used it for Jurasic Park
And there's new stores and stuff going in at Port Allen. Kauai's not the same with Walmart and now a Home Depot. :( :D

In the hardware world, the gain can be the preamp. But in software, I would think that gain would have to be some kind of fader, unless it's some kind of "mix B" fader. In that case, it's still like a true fader on a mixer. It'll be interesting to see what all is still to come!

Aloha ModuLR

Mahalo for the reply

I am neither for or against a mixer being added as a plug-in

its just that the advertising of a "Mixer Suite" is confusing given this Traction art form of "mixing without a mixer"

Aloha
:)
There are a bunch of other plugin bundles from other companies that are called "mixing suite" or "mix pack" etc. That usually implies that it includes all the plugs needed for general mixing work; eq, compressor, reverb etc. Never seen one with a mixer plugin though...

Me I like Hilo! - but the best bit of the big island is Puna - the red road !. I can live w/out Kona though... a kind of Hawaiian Palm Springs ... not a golfer myself... groovy local music market btw - how many populations that small have homegrown music made entirely for local consumption?

Aloha semiquaver

sorry but the red road was repaved with blacktop [over many objections and protest]

I live mauka [uphill] in ranchland rain forest. our small orchard is surrounded by 25,000 acres of ranch

vastly different than makai [to the sea or down hill] poor planing has lead to explosive growth, traffic and golf fiend snowbirds to da max

it is my belief that there is gold in dem dare hills other than cannabis

I have a sound stage with mackie 24-8 mixer & HDR, a b3, drum kit Carillion audio computer etc. and when my musician friends come over I am constantly amazed at the quality and quanity of frustrated talent in dem dare hills

recently a radio station and tv station owner came and heard and we are developing a way to capture and share hence my interest in Traction

How do you like the Carillion? Did you have it shipped from (where does it come from--England?)? Desktop type or what?

Although Musikmesse seems to have announced another 4-5 (if you include Altiverb 5). Seems like 2005 is the year of the reverb (esp complex hi density IR/convo type stuff)

I just got my copy of Electronic Musician which has a 8 page T2 ad which list, as a plug-in, the Mackie Mixing Suite; which is described as "Multiband compressor ducker, de-esser[1], channel strip[2], and reverb[2]"

footnote [1] "Available April 2005" footnote [2] "Available June 2005"

Is this the much requested mixer for Traction ["channel strip" would imply trim and fader controls]??

please forgive me for bumping this thread but now that Beno is back I hope he will refine the theories as to what this plug-in actually does??

I, too, would be interested in finding out what all is included. I'm already happy with the included compressors. IMO, between those and Final Mix, I'd have to say it's the best compressor bundle with any software.
