GaryG - that's the one with the P90s, yup.
I was worried about the neck, too. It's a solid piece of maple - no seperate fingerboard - and I think that helps with the sustain. It's actually really nice to play , not sticky , but slick. The neck is *thick* though :-)
The clean sounds are good - there is a real character difference between the pickups and you notice the throaty edge to your sound when you move to bridge-only. And you can't get a pretty decent twang out of it 8) although I dare say that the single coils on a standard tele would be better for that.

birrbits - I would have loved to find some other stores. Problem was that I had literally a one hour window. George's is right across from Wet'n'Wild so I dived in, tried out a few, double-checked this one again , then bought. There was *no way* I was persuading Mrs. Scuzzphut and the two junior phuts to go to any more music shops :hihi:

a once-in-a-lifetime, Gary :-)
My dad retired this year and took the whole lot of us (14) to Florida to celebrate.
An excellent time was had by all :D

You should try it - I think you and P get a bit wound up, sometimes :hihi:

sorry, did you mean can get a decent twang?

I'm not after the most cutting or twangiest tele tone, maybe something a little warmer than a standard tele without being a full-on humbucker.

I guess it would be easier if I just hauled my lazy ass to a decent shop and tried one myself... :)

My work used to take me to Portland quite often and I was once lucky enough to pick up a 1978 hardtail maple neck Strat (with Fender flight case) for $400 (Gorilla Guitars - now shut down I think). I even did the decent thing and declared it at customs on the way back into the UK (where I was impressed at the amount of knowledge the customs guy had about guitars!).

Wish I had a good excuse to travel back to the US on business now given the dollar/pound situation - with three children I certainly can't afford to do the trip at my own expense!

Regards,

Derek.

yes - I *did* mean "can".

"a little warmer than a standard tele" is a good description.

You mean in exchange for it???? I'll think about it. :scared:

Derek- I declared at customs, too - but it turns out you can bring in up to £149 without prejudice. $250 just shuffles under that bar with the current exchange rate :-) Maybe you could persuade your employer to send you to the US for a training course or something

Them were the days - about 10 years ago I convinced my employer that it was cheaper to send me to a conference in a Disney resort hotel in Orlando than one in London. I neglected to mention that my costs were based on a one-week fly-drive for a three day conference. Great conference - even better four days in Florida at the company's expense (there can be little better than taking the Cape Kennedy tour whilst thinking "I'm getting paid for doing this"!).

Regards,

Derek.

P.S. Top guitar by the way!

Greetings scuzphut,

Dude, I just realized from your original post, you were in my back yard!! Indeed, I live in Orlando, about 20 minutes north of International drive, and I know of the store with which you speak:)

We have spoken together before when you helped me about a KVM switch, fancy to know you were in town recently:) I'm well acquainted with a friend here in Orlando who is from Dundee.

I do hope you enjoyed your stay here, Iwould love to see Scotland myself. To date, I have lived in Spain and visited Portugal and Germany. This was a treat, cheers.

Sascha - I'm already going back through recent tracks and replacing the guitar parts with the new one. It makes a real difference

Geddylee - I had a fantastic time in FL. Once you get outside of the Disney/Universal zone , that whole area is beautiful. The weather helps, of course . You live in a great place - never take it for granted :uhuhuh: :-)
