AD80 wants the cursor to behave, for the first run, as it would while doing a punch (with the IO markers set), and then continue in regular loop mode. This would be a good alternative and is the way it is usually implemented.though the option of a preroll is also present during the start of the first loop.
Another (i think stupid) way of doing this is by deleating the material, or muting it, on the track that need to be punched in. Making a new track. setting markers to be where you want them to be, to include pre/post roll. And then recording on the new track. In loop.
You will ofcource have the pre/post roll everytime now.
you can send the output of ths track to the previous one to save resources.
