No problem, it's just one of those perpetual issues on bbs, I guess. When you just breeze in and out you sometimes just want to fire off the question you have and be done with it. It's also a short answer type of question so I usually don't fear having to get someone to answer something like that again, since it can be expressed in one sentence. Sorry to make your day more tiring, though.

As far as the bundles in the download, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same story you see a lot---pay more for a direct download and get less. :hihi: :x

Too much stuff inside, and authorization for the various plugs necessitates this (no flames or lectures on internet authorization technologies please).

There will be a "zero thrid-party plug" upgrade which is simply authorizing the T2 demo. This will be for registered T1 users only.

Mackie guy
Dernil, I just read your post. Am I to infer from your sig that you work for Mackie? So are you saying that the person from Mackie tech support who told me the full version (not the upgrade) would be available for download was wrong?

Not to be pushy or beat a terminally ill horse, but if I feel reasonably confirmed that there will be no non-upgrade full download available (plug-ins are not an issue to me) in the forseeable future, I'm probably going to go ahead and throw my money at a retailer, maybe today, and wait for however many weeks it takes to ship out.

Thanks for the info,
Dave

Frippertronix,

I believe they've already confirmed what you seek, but the caveat is that it seems to be for registered T1 users only. So if you hadn't purchased a T1 license, the information seems to indicate that you're "stuck" buying the fully full-on version with 3rd party apps.

Of course, I'd wait for the official announcement still.

Hrmmm... :? I would love to buy Tracktion 2 but I don't want nor need any of the plug-ins that will be bundled with it. It's unfortunate that there isn't a "Tracktion 2 Lite" version without the bundled plug-ins and their associated cost. Is it the final official word from Mackie/Raw Materials that there will be no such version? Tiered bundles work well for Cakewalk, Apple, Image-Line, and Steinberg, and give their customers choices. I would love to see the same from Mackie/Raw Materials.

Nah, it's still not the official final be-all-end-all word. But it seems to come from a reliable source.

Yea, I don't have T1, in fact I'd only run Giga on my PC before the Tracktion demo (was using an Akai recorder before that), so I've either got to deal with the demo or use Kristal in the mean time  .

As far as waiting for the official anouncement, it's like---okay, so, can anyone tell me when the offical anouncement is going to come out for when the software is going to come out? :) :?

I'd sort of like to just lock in what I'm going to do ASAP so I can stop thinking about it :hihi: , which is why I've started asking pushy questions on bbs. :D

I find Larry Ellison annoying in almost every other respect, but I wholeheartedly agree with him that putting software in packages and sending it through the air in cargo planes makes little sense, so I tend to like to support the direct download system, though I think it's still comparatively overpriced most of the time.

OTOH, if the box is all I can have, the box it shall be. Just trying to sort out the conflicting info before I spring into action. :)

BTW, to all from RMS looking in---it's a very nice piece of work, T2 is. :!:  :!:

By now its quite obvious that Mackie will not tell their customers what to expect. No ones going to answer us, just let it go.

Good point. I'm tired of waiting. Going to buy it online tonight, box and all.

Hope they don't revoke my Sierra Club membership for this... :P

It appears that they already have: a downloadable upgrade path will exist for T1 owners, and new users will have to buy it in a box. That's pretty clear to me.

Clear on this board, but I was told something different over the phone.

Though it's possible my guy was blowing smoke, or maybe they really haven't decided....or....

I just bought it for the 1.5 bills. If they knock another $25 off the full version it will be the best deal since...jeepers, just the best deal ever.

Wait, no, the best deal since the free T1. :P

I love T2! :hihi:

dernil said the decision was just made, and it will be 'officially' announced very soon. I spoke with a Mackie rep a month or so ago who was very good at not telling me any specifics, he wouldn't budge except to tell me it would definitely be a very good upgrade price. I think your guy was blowing smoke

Dernil told us now that T1 is no longer available. My guess: that was because now there is no danger of folks buying T1 just to get the cheaper no plug download.
