T2 Full for direct download?

Dernil told us now that T1 is no longer available. My guess: that was because now there is no danger of folks buying T1 just to get the cheaper no plug download.

That would make sense if they want new users to buy the box version.

I guess they really want to run with the big box boys like Steinberg and Cakewalk and be like big box boys on box campus from now on.





OTOH, they would have a tricky time not knocking a lot off the price for the download if they couldn't include the plugins, then everyone would say sod the plugins, which are mostly freeware, and buy the download...and if they charged full retail for a download without plugins they would get so many emails about it they'd wish they'd stuck to mixing boards.

Not to mention they would be screwing over all the plug vendors who are hoping to make some $$ for the included plugs.

A lot had to be considered regarding what makes the whole deal viable financially for all involved: Mackie, Jules, plug vendors, music stores, customers. I think $149 for a new boxed version is still a really good deal and no one should be too pissed about it. Except maybe ron, but he's on medication He doesn't count, he's allowed to be grouchy.

The full bundled version (all 3rd party plugs) will not be available for download. You'll need to go to a brick-and-mortar or virtual store to get the full version (boxed and beautiful). Too much stuff inside, and authorization for the various plugs necessitates this (no flames or lectures on internet authorization technologies please).

There will be a "zero thrid-party plug" upgrade which is simply authorizing the T2 demo. This will be for registered T1 users only.

Dernil, I just read your post. Am I to infer from your sig that you work for Mackie? So are you saying that the person from Mackie tech support who told me the full version (not the upgrade) would be available for download was wrong?

All upgrade info is now on the Mackie site. Please check it out for yourself, and your question will be answered.

Thanks for being so responsive to feedback - we got exactly what we asked for - a downloadable option without all the unneeded extras and significant rebate. $20 is much better than expected and very generous - very pleased
